Stereophile complains it's readers are too informed.
Stereophile seems pretty straightforward to me and they seem to be clear about their measurements. Of course, measurements can never tell the whole story and they're not a substitute for listening. Yep, I like their measurements. I just feel ...
Stereophile complains it's readers are too informed.
I did. The issue is the context of the article, which you’d have to be reading the comments from recent speaker reviews to get. While they invoke Toole here, they don’t in their reviews and completely ignore glaring differences from classical spea...
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ?
" You’ve stated I’ve attempted to discredit the technology." No I did not. I provided TWO quotes wherein you called multi-sub advocates "cultists", and then in a follow-up post I wrote: You cannot understand the difference between objecting to ho...
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ?
Erik, you are fixated on your grievances towards audiophiles who prefer something which is arguably Man who keeps calling me out upset I reply. Sadly for you I don’t owe you a debate nor do I do research for free. The proof is in the archives. I ...
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ?
Gee @audiokinesis I'm not having a squabble at all.  You said I played a card to discredit a technology and I corrected you. Now you are again taking a curious angle to my very clear and direct statements.   As I have said, I don't care if people ...
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ?
Since bass trap advocate Erik Squires is playing the "cultist" card to discredit multi-sub advocates @audiokinesis I’m not discrediting multi subs. I’m discrediting the cultish behavior on the proponents on Audiogon. As I’ve written, it is charac...
Who, do you think, designs the best looking tube-based devices?
Now, Luxman. The Conrad Johnson Premiere 8 and 12 come to mind. The Cary SLP 05Unison ResearchReal shame I've ever only found a way to have a CJ P10 pre in my system. Best,E
Snell Type A

Should a stereo soundstage be 3D or 2D?
Please keep in mind that this is speaker + room dependent.  The better the room is treated, the more the imaging will be allowed to develop.  I think height is more realistic with line sources and panels.Best,E
Magico S5 MK1
There will always be something around the corner.  Also, how is your room?  Given the choice between a well treated room, and a newer speaker I'd chose the better room.
ClarityCaP CSA vs MR
With clarity caps I find the < 4uF caps to do well by themselves. Above that you often want to bypass, but I suggest Audyn TC 0.1uFAlternatively, use smaller values of the same cap to build them up, but due to Clarity's cost structure, this can...
Luxman M900U any experience ?
And I was amazed to hear people with high end pass labs trading for m900u! That would be me all day long. Pass has a particular sound. Luxman does too. If you love Pass you’ll never trade, and vice versa. The only thing I’m surprised by is that p...
Can you recommend an integrated amp 2K or less for Golden Ear Triton 2's?
You want something warm.  Pass and Parasound would be among the choices I'd suggest.
100W, 200W, or 300W?
For meters, Luxman.  I love mine. :)
100W, 200W, or 300W?
room treatment on order... Don't do anything more until these are in place.  They change everything. Lots of power is not important, quality is. I'd suggest you listen for yourself, but include these three, very different sounding amps in your ...
