Vandersteen 2W Sub Repurpose?
Not stupid.  Uniformed by the years of browsing part catalogs that some of us have wasted our youth on. :)
2way vs 3way speakers: different or is one "better"
So much of this has to do with getting the right bass in the room. A smaller 2-way in an untreated room can often sound a lot cleaner and more balanced. Here’s a blog where I wrote about my 6.5" 2-way:https://speakermakersjourney.blogspot.com/2020...
Vandersteen 2W Sub Repurpose?
Plenty of digital plate amps out there. :)
The next big driver hype: Textreme
I saw the Purifi measurements.  I was more than a little puzzled, as the claim is that the IM distortion is coming from doppler effects, but the Purifi still moves the same way. Weird.
The next big driver hype: Textreme
I've seen measurements comparing it to Zardoz and it does very well. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070948/mediaviewer/rm909847040
Which USB Re Clocker
Reclocking is meaningless, but galvanic isolation is not. I just found out to my deep chagrin that the Mytek Brooklyn I have is NOT galvanically isolated from the USB input.  I can't believe DACs these days don't automatically include this.
Wisdom of buying high priced digital gear (given new advancements underway)
I think DACs are really good and stable.  Software services however could change at any time.  Tidal has been rumored to be on rocky financial ground for instance, and the Amazon music service is relatively new and not interfaced by all (i.e. Roon...
Beryllium Tweets
The motor in the Magico's far outclasses the micro-motor tweets in Focals. It is only because of marketers that we even think of Be as a selling point. Don't get me wrong, Be is a cool high tech material, but a specific Be tweeter is a very differ...
You can't have too many bass traps...
The biggest problem are when reflected bass hits the generated bass from the speakers and cancels itself out, creating a bass NULL. I'm going to disagree.  I've measured 20 dB peaks as well in a modest living room.  That peak prevented the subwoo...
You can't have too many bass traps...
Bass traps are actually not the right tool for 60 Hz.Maybe not the best tool given infinite money and space, but I disagree they are not a very good tool. First, some specs:https://www.gikacoustics.com/product/gik-acoustics-soffit-bass-trap/As you...
Luxman vs Pass Labs
I agree the 30 Watts on Luxman is conservative. I am guessing the Luxman class A integrateds are under-rated due to heat sink restrictions. The 1/3 power preheat testing required may be too much, so they rated at 30 Watts. Listening here with my 5...
Luxman vs Pass Labs
Haven't heard this piece, but have listened to many other Luxmans, and for whatever reason I've never heard one that I would buy. What I've heard is a lack of smoothness, or maybe a bit of graininess (don't know what else to call it), on some ...
Beryllium Tweets
This would have been a great post in 1990.  Best,Erik
Why do most phono preamps lack XLR input even thought cartridges are naturally balanced?
one would have to introduce a true balanced phono circuit internally. While the idea of duplicated, bridged, or fully balanced (whichever term you like) is sexy, the idea that this is the only advantage is really not correct.  Professional gear...
Consolidate/sell my headphone system for a DCS Bartok?
Have you heard the Ayre?  The diamond output stage on headphones was absolutely magical to me.
