Y No YG ?
I’m not putting words into your mouth. I’m saying that the ScanSpeak Revelator mid-woofer cones are paper and resin composites, as opposed to simple paper. They deserve a little more than being called merely paper cone drivers. You are still free ...
Y No YG ?
You don’t have to like paper drivers, or Scanspeak drivers, but calling a composite a paper driver does them a disservice. They are lightweight, strong, resonance free and low distortion, not to mention when properly used, very flat. Again, person...
Brooklyn Bridge or Aurender
I really like the Roon ecosystem and DSP capabilities.
Y No YG ?
The room I was in was the Magico demo room. I find the S1s to be probably among the worst value of the Magico line, and they sound chesty, congested. Fritz uses Scanspeak Revelators composite drivers (among others) and to my ears and that of many ...
Y No YG ?
I've heard the S1 Mk II and while they had some good attributes, they were a very curious speaker. Small footprint, low efficiency, requiring a lot of space to sound balanced, and with extra resonance in the lower female voice / mid to lower piano...
What's your "diminishing returns" preamp choice?
I’m not sure, how much is a CAT? I ask this because I've heard different but never have I heard better.
Seas Excel Diamond tweeter or Plasma?
I have to say that overall I've never heard a tweeter actually better than the Mundorf AMTs.  I've heard crappy AMTs and I've heard great dome/ring radiators and people I respect say the Beyma is as good or better, but never have I personally hear...
Seas Excel Diamond tweeter or Plasma?
How about the Beyma AMT surrounded by a pair of Faital 6" pro mid woofers in a D'Appolito configuration? Talk about great imaging and outstanding output levels. Put them on top of a DSP powered bass cabinet. The Beyma/AMT mix is not an original id...
Seas Excel Diamond tweeter or Plasma?
I think the idea of shopping for several best components based on cost and assembling them into a working speaker is quite a challenge.  You may be disappointed, as the best tweeters in the world sound like nothing at all.  They  vanish.  They are...
What do/did you do for a living?
In hindsight, I wish i'd have gone into audio engineering.  @mirolabI often think this, but then I realize how truly difficult high end audio sales are, and how rare it is to find a startup that goes on to last more than a couple of years. I think...
Looking for Linear Power Supply for my Mytek Brooklyn DAC. Suggestions?
FYI - Though I have an Astron, it's really too big and bulky so I've ordered an iFi for my Mytek and another for my streamer (Pi 4). I'll let you all know.
Are all speaker relays removable? One receiver with two relays?
Relays are only removable if socketed.  I've had older Yamaha pro amps with relays and no sockets, so I added them. :)
crossover rebuild/retoration
Mundorf --- BLEAH! :) They add way too much color of their own.  They will transform the sound of the speaker to something else entirely. Also, notice please that Troels doesn't just swap parts, he's completely re-analyzed the speaker to a much mo...
Scientists studying how current really moves through wires and other objects.
Besides the normal LCR measurements of cables, this is the only other thing I've ever been curious about, in particular how Litz cables work, if at all. :) Best,E
How to judge an amplifier's performance with a "powered-woofer" speaker?
Coming back to the OP's question:  Amplifiers are not independent commodities. You don't gauge their worth and put them in your closet, waiting for the to appreciate for years before you take them out and sell them still in the box. Who cares if a...
