Thanks so much, @pdspiegel !!
Subwoofer speed is in the room, not the box
BTW, I really am straying into solutions.  I am not saying you can't get good without a high pass filter, but rather, I find it a lot easier to get there. In this sense, I'm 100% with Richard Vandersteen. :)
Ever have terminated speaker wires crossed/mislabeled from manufacturer?
You do need a continuity tester to know what’s happening for sure. One way to tell is to swap the cables with another speaker or input. There’s a lot that can go wrong, speaker cables, XLR or even having a speaker with drivers reversed. Another ...
Advice wanted for small factor office speakers
Agree stereo is so much better.  Also, JBL
Krell Service - speakers buzzing
It could be an incoming power issue but just as easily could be a power supply issue and should be serviced soon. Disconnect all the inputs to see if the problem stops.  If it still happens, take it to another room or building to see if the buzz m...
Subwoofer speed is in the room, not the box
So the question is...If the high pass method makes the speaker sound so much better, wouldn't every speaker manufacturer use this superior method? @gdaddy1  Well.... funny you should mention this, because they DO!  Look at it this way.  Every ...

@mazian While I appreciate your accolades, lets be honest. @atmasphere actually builds excellent and highly sought-after electronics for a living and if anyone should be called an expert it should be him. By comparison, I’m just a dabbler in a ...

@atmasphere To put this another way, the amp must produce an equal and opposite reaction to the incoming room noise (or fingers poking).  That means that the current flowing through the output stage must be an analogue of that pressure. The voltag...

Since the amp makes the speaker hard to move, it inherently also reduces any audio signal picked up by the diaphragm.   Ah, but (apologies to Shakespeare) there's the rub.  In order to keep the diaphragm from moving, current must flow.  That i...
LPS for Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
Get an ifi Power adapter for any networking gear you are concerned might be putting noise into your AC line. No kludging necessary I would only worry about this if your network gear is physically or electrically near your audio gear though.  My f...
Dedicated 20 amp circuit. 10/2 or 10/3?
If the device count is modest and the power low, 10/2. If you want multiple outlets and really want 2 dedicated circuits, 10/3. Also, consider running 10/2 at 220V to a step down, balanced transformer in the room. If this is a long run this can b...

@atmasphere Thanks for taking the time to work through this with me.   Not semantics, but what it is we are looking at. Negative feedback causes current to flow to maintain the output voltage at zero. It "rejects" the input by doing work. It's ...
DH Labs
Just  wanted to say that I'm a big fan of DH Labs, especially DIY cabling. I love the pure silver interconnects available from Parts Connexion. Also use their shielded power cable. Otherwise, Worlds Best, which uses Mogami is my default intercon...

@atmasphere   The more feedback you have, the less the speaker can affect the amp. I think it is worthwhile to get very specific. The more feedback the less the speaker’s impedance can affect the amplifier’s frequency response. That is, it b...
Damping Factor and Overall Negative Feedback.
Should add a little, that very low power, zero negative feedback amps tend to be the most colorful as the response curve rides the impedance curve of the speaker.   Colorful little liars!
