Titanium Voice Coils - where to get best price? @ditusa Sorry, of course I'm familiar with Ti based formers, but when I ask for "such a beast" I'm asking if the OP has heard or seen of the same model speakers having different drivers. What got him thinking that taking this model of speaker ...
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks? @vitussl101 And have you all steal my ideas?? 🤣 Honestly though, this isn't an exact science. Just drape absorptive cloth over the sides of your speakers and see if it helps.
Titanium Voice Coils - where to get best price? So..... what is it about Ti formers in this particular speaker that got the OP so interested?? And why just the former but not the diaphragm for instance?? Is there such a beast already?
Occam's Razor: The Signal to Noise Ratio I like room treatments, Occam's Razor, and the Occam processors, but I think the SNR metaphor is not quite right. If that were true a purely absorptive room would be the right approach, but in fact it is not. As you've found, a combination of di...
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks? I want to be clear, when I'm talking weight, I mean WEIGHT!! Not "resonance dampers" or whatever those things are called. Let's talk 20 lbs. or so.
Definitive Answer Re Japanese Luxman's I can tell you that my 507ux absolutely does not have adjustable taps. It is my understanding from other members that generally Luxman does not, but Accuphase does. As I think you understand, this feature has be built into the product by providi...

No need for a Magico brand. @asvjerry - I think that the reason my curtain idea works is reflections coming off those flat hard surfaces...
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks? @asvjerry If it's something like a Walsh speaker, the bass section provides plenty of area to cover, for an MBL though not so much.
Help . . . I’m dumber than my active speakers! It could very well be placement or your room. Try this. Set them up as close as you can to your listening location. This will remove the room acoustics. If they suddenly sound fantastic it's your room.
When feeding a DAC Hi-Res files, DSD128, 256, 512, PCM 32/768, etc are NOS DACs prefered? Can you give an example of a modern dac that always oversamples??

Adding streaming services to a streamer via usb The iFi Zen stream will do this.
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks? @amtprod Take a blanket or curtain or something like that and drape it over your speaker so the top and sides are no longer visible. Leave the front exposed and the rear if ported.
Free air, tighter bass - snake oil or cheap tweaks? @audiokinesis Thank you. I have added felt around the front of speakers to good effect, so I can see how covering the front of a speaker in absorbent foam can work. What I'm surprised at is that having a curtain that covers the top and sides w... |
