Long USB cable recommendation
You can get an active USB cable that can go that long, no problemo. The biggest issues are ground loops at that length which are sometimes introduced, depending on whether or not your DAC has galvanic isolation built into the USB port or not.  USB...
Measurements for a dedicated line
@dpop Sounds good!! GFCI outlets are cheaper ($20), but if it's not in a convenient location to reset when it trips then a new combination breaker is the way to go. I also have Siemens.  My panel used 100% Siemens breakers, that were 15 years ol...
Subwoofer speed is in the room, not the box
Almost 100% of the time, newcomers will set the crossover too high and the gain (volume level) too low. This will result in a sound that is fatter, boomier and improperly integrated with the main speakers. The secret is to realize the [subwoofer]...

My house was built in 1942, and the pizza oven wiring has never been updated, except with a new outlet at some point. @dpop Ahhh! Yeah, you can’t do that today. The microwave gets it’s own circuit, which as of 2023 has to be CAFCI and GFCI pro...
Dd67000 crossover points?
Interesting also that the crossovers are 24 db/octave.  This helps reduce power to the drivers but also offers excellent vertical response.   That is, you can sit or stand up and still hear an excellent frequency response without destructive inter...
Dd67000 crossover points?
Without taking anything from the Everest, I would really want confirmation about the super tweeter coming in at 20 kHz. That seems supremely wasteful. Otherwise, this is almost what the DIY community calls a Woofer-Assisted Wide Band (WAWB) which...
Subwoofer speed is in the room, not the box
I agree with @avanti1960 except in one technical nitpick:   The efficiency of a driver in a cabinet is determined by the driver, not the box. Sealed and ported cabinets will have the exact same efficiency if they use the same driver. The differe...
Bananas rule, spades drool. End of discussion.
Cardas not only makes absolutely excellent connectors, they are super nice people to deal with.  I absolutely support their work.  Still, you shouldn't need a super fancy Cardas spade connector to get reliable.  I mean, sure, there are amps with ...
Measurements for a dedicated line
@dpop Excellent investigations!! :)  While I applaud your work, should also point out how few amps you are drawing is contributing to the stability of the voltage. Your wiring could handle 30 Amps, and you are drawing 2 at peak usage.  Audiophile...
Berkeley Audio Design and MQA?
@yage - That's kind of a straw man. Yes, we could do it, but no one is doing it so it's not really the point. The point is,  I wish some one WOULD do it cheaply.
Berkeley Audio Design and MQA?
Perhaps the single thing MQA was doing, which Pono also did (I miss that player) was to authenticate bit streams. If Qobuz is meddling around with the bits somehow by using lossy compression, or some processing we are not expecting we have no way ...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock?
OP: If we are asking about whether to use a separate streamer or not, I think the answer is in which DAC do you want, and how badly do you want it? That is, the separates vs. integrated issue is really as much about being able to pick and chose ...
Measurements for a dedicated line
@dpop Those are certainly popular, and I believe the original.  There are now dozens of watt / voltage meters out there, with a variety of smart features, including wifi connectivity.  What I've yet to find is one that measures N-E at the same tim...
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock?
PS - USB cables can have a ground loop that isn’t audible as hum. Sometimes it’s just significantly higher jitter. In my case though I’ve definitely had the audible kind when using a very long USB cable from a remote PC. Normally I use a Pi as my...
Subwoofer speed is in the room, not the box
@clio09 - Using a high crossover point to fix a low frequency bump is sound.  I've done the same while making internal crossovers.  It avoids extra EQ components. My recommendation is usually to ask users to plug any ports for kind of the same re...
