Bananas rule, spades drool. End of discussion.
Well, not sure if the Viborg bananas I linked are "regular bananas" but they are just as tight today as they were when first used. They also take up less space than the locking kinds. As mentioned, love WBT for locking types, and boo on Furutech,...
Measurements for a dedicated line
@bolong It would be nice if you got a plug - in V meter and could look at it during the day and night to see if you have better voltage at night.  I'd be really curious.
Amp — Leave on or turn off
I think what the manufacturer recommends is irrelevant.  What matters  is your own ears, and your willingness to pay the electric bills. :D If you can't hear a difference, leave your gear off.  If you can, leave it on.  It's that simple.  No meas...
Amp — Leave on or turn off
It’s not a debate. It’s very much amplifier specific. I have ICEpower amps and they absoultely need at least 72 hours to sound musical. My Luxman warms up well in half an hour. I have no real explanation for why some amps warm up faster than ot...
Subwoofer speed is in the room, not the box
@gdaddy1 I have to believe your experience, but I also wish you had measurements to show us what was happening at the same time.
Measurements for a dedicated line
@bolong I'd be interested in knowing if that's a voltage or noise issue.
Source suggestions for small spades
Just looked at the back of those.  Yes, Parts Express is decent but so is Amazon.  Honestly found the PE connectors for whatever reason never keep a crimp well enough.  I've thrown out many bags from them.  You'll want to match the diameter of you...
Dd67000 crossover points?
Along the same lines, I wonder how much of our perception of music and sound is through our skin, and therefore how poorly our measurements may understand human perception.
I'm looking for a software or a website........
If you just want to translate the words, using a lyrics site + Google translate will work. Translation of the music and song meaning however is another art form altogether.
Long USB cable recommendation
@jji666 We leave a lot up to the buffering and jitter rejection in the DAC these days.  I think so long as it's in asynchronous mode the DAC will be fine.  Buffering and jitter rejection can't solve really bad upstream signals, but I think this s...
Dd67000 crossover points?
@ptss Very interesting!!! My speakers are flat to 30kHz, i wonder how much of that I’ve been experiencing?? I’ve also read positive things about damping ultrasonic resonances in tweeters during crossover design, but I thought that was because of...
Long USB cable recommendation
Here, they are around $20 and work just fine, except you may also need an isolator at the DAC end.   Sometimes ground loops form between the USB cable and AC wiring, and since your PC is so far away it is more likely to form.  IMHO a DAC's USB inp...
Have Luxman 509x. Considering Pass Labs INT-250 or Dan D’Agostino Progression Integrated
No need to flare up. You hate Pass. I get it. And you’re making it abundantly clear every time you see the brand brought up in a discussion. @audphile1 Don’t put words in my mouth or in my writing and we won’t have a problem. I don’t actuall...
Measurements for a dedicated line
@dpop The specs seem nice. One of the major issues with WHSP units is the high clamping voltage. The other is activation time. Another is the ability for a surge current to be induced by the AC wiring in the house. For all these reasons, I still ...
DSP Active Crossover
if your your active drivers need impedance flattening, notch filters or if the speaker has baffle step compensation you are fighting an uphill battle trying to use only DSP to address those issues.   @Avanti1960, having built both, I can say t...
