Volume Controls - Can they affect Dynamic Range?
Software volume is the same as digital volume controls. So, yes. Erik

Of all possible choices, the GE would probably be more of the same. If you aren't happy with the B&W's  you have, I'd be really surprised if you found the GE significantly different, but let your ears be the only judges. Best,Erik
Direct Digital Amplification
Well I certainly hope the M32 sounds better than the M51 I heard two years ago. :D :D :D But no, the idea isn't really that new. If NAD can make it sound good at prices below the stratosphere it will be good for us for sure. Especially if there is...
Would increasing the gain in the amp give more weight to the sound? Any negatives?
@czarivey Of course, I'm talking relatively. Unplug the amp and of course body will be affected too.In my experience however, an impedance mismatch is more likely to cause a weak, or whimpy sound than gain. Your mileage may vary.
Adding a 2nd Sub to a 2 Channel System
Measurements would answer this question. While, in theory, a second sub, assymetrically placed, would help, the benefit could be very small. Bass Traps, and sub EQ (if not already there) are the first things to add. Then, if measurements suggest y...

With that size room, before you change speakers, spend about 1-$2k of your budget at GIK Acoustics. THEN see if you want new speakers. After that, a satellite/sub system may work out best for you, especially if you have room EQ. Alternatives of co...

Gain does not affect body. In fact it can add quite a bit of noise. What you want to do is increase input impedance.  You can do this with a high quality transformer, but not sure where you'd get one off the shelf.Best,Erik
Finally stepping into the hobby after 30 years of watching from the sidelines
@terry9 I'm not at all surprised you've not heard this. Subs are in fact a giant PITA to integrate well. If this was work, I'd say they have a very high Total Cost of Ownership, or that the "care and feeding" is much higher than most people realiz...
Finally stepping into the hobby after 30 years of watching from the sidelines
@terry9 As i've written before, given an adequate sub, bass traps and EQ, I can make subs sound lightning fast and unbelievably dynamic. The problem isn't the slow or fast, but that maggies integrate into the room much more nicely and with less ef...

Your amp is fine. Turn to GIK Acoustics for advice on room tuning that you want to live with. :) I will say that not only do acoustics matter a lot, but after you have it done you may go through a dozen speakers, but you'll never want to replace t...
Apple TV 4 > TV > DAC
You usually can route video that way, but why? I mean, you could go straight from your Apple TV to a DAC.Many (including me) report improvements in listening to these bargain audio streamers by putting a reclocker in the signal just before the DAC...
Dark Side of the Moon - Is MFSL really all that?
The MFSL CD I have is a different recording altogether. Thanks! Erik
HELP*%# How many DAC's does it take to screw in a decent output signal???
HI! So there is an answer. :) CD's are digital. Speakers are analog. Once, and only once, that digital signal must become analog before your speakers can move air.  This is done by a Digital to Analog Converter or DAC of which only 1 is allowed in...

Hey @stereo5 which of your digital releases would you recommend?I have no vinyl here I'm afraid. Best,Erik
Whole house setup
Well, it seems you like to tinker and move things around a lot. :) I don’t think any suggestions would necessarily help you. I would think about however going to a system like a Sonos or similar where possible. You have more gear in that house tha...
