4 ohms , 6 ohms, or 8 ohms??? No worries, unless you live and breathe this stuff those graphs don't make a lot of sense. :-)
4 ohms , 6 ohms, or 8 ohms??? Looking at the measurements, here:http://www.stereophile.com/content/canton-reference-32-dc-loudspeaker-measurements#BSJ98rl0dgKIixXi....This is a very difficult to drive speaker. They have an impedance below 4 ohms for most of the bass up until a...
Stereophile & Mytek Brooklyn - Better than it Measures I'm trying the FR right now. It is very similar, but I think I'm getting more imaging past the speakers. Have to listen more with known tracks. :)
Anybody here terminate DH Labs BL-1 cable? For RCA, connect the shield and - together only on one end. Usually on the source. On the far end leave the shield unconnected, and connect the - to the outer RCA shell and the + to the center pin.It helps if you mark them before assembling. :)
Is Anyone Using Dirac Live Or Other Room Correction? I like Dirac, especially the curves they use, but I do it all myself with a miniDSP and OmniMic.My main speakers are pretty flat at my listening location and only really use the EQ for the sub where it is glorious. :) Best,Erik
Help me with the upgrade path Wait, GIK is pretty! And colorful. With top notch designer cloths and even custom printing!
Wilson Sasha 2 - too much speaker for room size? Hi CJ!So the bass issue has more to do with the bass extension and output levels than speaker size. The big ugly dragons all dwell in the lowest 2 octaves of a room. In a rectangular room that size you are definitely going to have the opportunit...

Is it safe to A/B 2 different speakers using my int. amp's balance so I can compare? Also, imaging and clarity are not easily discernible with a single speaker. You need to hear the stereo presentation. If you do hear a difference, put a reasonable financial value on it. Does the air around the strings really make you want to put ...
Is it safe to A/B 2 different speakers using my int. amp's balance so I can compare? Well, remember the goal is not to hear whether you can hear a difference. The goal is to understand which you are going to enjoy more. I would say do the opposite. Spend an hour or more with each pair. Switch. Are you desperate to switch back? Do ...
Is it safe to A/B 2 different speakers using my int. amp's balance so I can compare? I prefer Monitor Audio to both of those. :) I find the Rega's like the Monarchy's, way to laid back.
Why has amplifier power become a big issue Looking at the measurements here:http://www.stereophile.com/content/vandersteen-2ce-signature-ii-loudspeaker-measurementsI'd say that's a pretty amplifier friendly speaker. The impedance dropping into the deep bass may be helped by a stiff amp tho...
Why has amplifier power become a big issue As far as I know it's just trendy. It's like having the car that goes 400MPH though you drive it to work and the store. It's also pretty wasteful unless you are using a high-efficiency amplifier. Some speakers have been deliberately "juiced" to pr...
Stereophile & Mytek Brooklyn - Better than it Measures Hi @frozentundra To be honest I haven't tried them out. I've moved, then I got pretty sick, so my listening location isn't ideal. I am using the default filter that ships with MQA enabled, so slow roll off I believe. Best,Erik
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers. We are devolving into semantics. The alternative to "tight" in my mind is "flabby" or "boomy" which is what usually happens when your speakers go low enough in frequency to exacerbate room modes. +-20 dB peaks and valleys are quite real and detrim... |
