When does the law diminishing returns kick in?
I have recently developed a very different answer to this topic than I had previously. While it is generally true that one has to spend much more to get a smaller return in sound quality, there are 2 factors I believe that mitigate this phenomenon...
Looking for "Last" 2 channel speaker system.
Hi Bullot,I was in a very similar situation, looking for reference level performance in a relatively small form factor for our mixing, listening and dealer needs. After an extensive search, The TAD CR1 was the speaker that fit the bill.It feels like...
Bill Evans - Waltz for Debby - New on HDtracks
I don't have another version handy to compare, but suffice to say that in my system, the 192/24 files are outstanding. I actually don't own an LP of that release, but have many other Bill Evans LPs and I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed ...
Saw the Stereophile review of the B&W 800 Diamond
Many years ago I heard the diamonds - I believe 801D. (but could be wrong) The tweeter was oh so nice, airy and resolving, but nothing else in the spectrum gelled with it. Has that improved? Anyone else notice that artifact from the early diamond ...

Line Array Speaker vs Point Source Speaker
I have heard excellent line arrays, but one respected engineer has told me that arrays have different arrival times, since the drivers are different distances from the listener, and thus could not recommend them. I have seen a curved line array on...

Synergistic Designers Reference
I too heard that demo in NYC. Not heard the cables since. In that demo I thought without the active sheild it sounded grainy and rather poor. With active on it was good. This was years ago so I'm sure it has improved.

Ok after round one, we have some great responses and examples.Round 2 - Any more specific examples people can chime in with would be great.I may be having some fun with the format of this thread, but who knows, if it gets dozens of responses and e...
Good news for tinnitus sufferers
The article mentions clinical trials on humans starting soon. That indeed is the most exciting things I've read on this forum.
Magico - a new Mini?

Magico - a new Mini?
I don't know if I would refer to it as a plug, just pay additional shipping and handling......I would love to hear the Q1 and Q3. I think the Q3 will sell very well, as people who would not ordinarily spend that kind of money, especially in this e...
