Speakers that are very accurate sounding but don't produce an emotional connection.
Just to add some observations.   A friend who used to own sound labs but sold them due to space issues still had his elaborate pass labs gear and elaborate crossovers and tri amp setup but was temporarily using several pairs of fairly old barely m...
Tubes-Suffer for Sound CD??????
Wow - a great topic about one of my favorite bands as a kid. I see that 4 tracks from suffer for sound are released on the expanded edition of Remote Control, but from reading reviews those are not necessarily the best tracks. How did the Suffer t...
Raidho D1/C1.1 vs Dynaudio C1 vs Magico Q1
Just to follow up, I don't want to give the impression that the CR1's are totally playing catch up to the Raidho's in every aspect. Just the upper octaves. I actually think That augmenting the CR1's with a super tweeter and subs has given me every...
Raidho D1/C1.1 vs Dynaudio C1 vs Magico Q1
I'm not sure if this adds anything to the discussion, but here goes. At the recent NY Audio show, I thought the Raidho (both the stand mounted monitor and floor stander) were amazing. The floor stander in the Sound by Singer room was for me a clea...
What Product Did You Overspend On?
I overspent on buying a loft just to have a good listening room, but then again this is NYC.
TAD Evolution 1 vs Thiel CS3.7
I have not heard the Evolution 1 but am very familiar with TAD CR1's which I have read are similar to the E1. Taking cost out of the equation I could not imagine you being unhappy with the TAD's. Definitely worth a listen. I can't compare them wit...
Steve guttenberg
Harley,I know Steve and I know here he lives. I would gladly pay him a visit for you around midnight and make sure he doesn't make any more lists to bother you.Unless of course this is actually a promotional thread to get people to read his Audiop...

Has anyone heard the Pioneer Center Channel S-7EX to pair with TAD or Pioneer speakers?
Why does most new music suck?
I'd like to add something that may illuminate some of your feelings.Recently when I hear cheesy disco music (not at all my genre) I often think to myself, "wow these are pretty darn good musicians, and they did it all without Protools, samples, or...
Upgrade PWD MKI to MKII worth the investment?
I will answer your question with some dialog from the classic scene in Katz's deli from When Harry Met Sally. "Yes, Yes, Yes!!!"Just the Native X feature alone is worth the upgrade. Enabling NativeX (from Native, which is the best mode on the MK1,...
What do you use to check for brightness?
I Agree with Steve that jitter is an issue in digital brittleness. The other thing that could make a system seem bright is lack of bass.
Aluminum Foil test for Audio Desk Vinyl Cleaner
Peter, Why does the Loricraft takes 25 minutes per side? I have doesh several steps and I remember it takingt much less time than this.
HD Down Load compared to Analog.
As a user of both hi Res downloads and what would be considered an A rated analog set up, my opinion is that all the absolutes have completely broken down. One can longer say that one format is superior, only that one particular pressing or digita...
Anyone interested in stereophile estate auction?
Poor guy's father dies, comes here to get some interest in the estate sale (thinking it was the best thing to do) only to be told his father didn'treally own any high end equipment.... Ouch. I guess we are truly a cagey bunch.
Sub best at high crossover?
The only real way to validate what your are hearing is to do a room response. there could be some suckout that the full range of the sub is complementing, or you might find that there is a huge hump in the upper mass response that you like, but yo...
