Looking for a high-quality 2-way speaker
I would add TAD CR1 to the list if it's in his price range. I heard the Q1 - excellent speaker that disappears well and has spectacular imaging on audiophile material. However listening to some non audiophile cuts, the sound was less than stellar....
Coincident Pure Reference Extreme in D.C. area?
I would love to hear these as well. Anywhere in the NYC or West Palm Beach are to here these? Also - Can we send each other messages anymore? How can someone contact us to say we can come over, other than posting an email address on a public forum?
Pioneer S-1EX Loudspeaker
Have you tried toeing in the speakers so the drivers axis cross well in front of you? That is Andrew Jones' suggestion of how the TAD's should be set up. When the focus is right the concentric drivers should present a holographic image that comes ...
It's all local now
So many factors to this discussion. The market splintering onto hundreds of sub genres, that are not just local... Social media as ways for artists to promote themselves in ways that never before existed. Bands being able to sell merch directly fr...
PerfectWave DAC / Zodiac Gold Shootout Round 1
I have a lot of experience with the PWD so I'd like to chime in. (disclaimer: I used to sell the product and may again at some point)First, I have found (and well as another friend) that the PWD does not sound as good via single ended. Not sure wh...
Biggest impact on you?
In the late 80's I walked into a computer store here in NYC to have my MAC SE computer fixed. It turned out they also sold audio, and I saw some panel speakers in the other part of the store. I inquired if they were electrostats, since I had read ...
Wilson Benesch Torus hoop-up? Help
Does anyone in the NYC or West Palm Beach area have this sub. I would really love to hear it. Teddy, any additional comments vs. traditional top performing subs would be appreciated. I am thinking this might be ideal to extend the TAD CR1 (which I...
Speakers and system for compressed recordings?
Forgive me if I don't understand the issue at hand.I just listened to Dark Side the other night (24/96 version) and it was stellar! This is not a remixed version, just a new transfer to digital. (Some of the other Floyd LP's have recently been rem...
REL G1 vs JL Fathom F113 subwoofer
This is way off topic but can anyone comment on what going to the extremely expensive Wilson Benesch Torus provides? Is the added articulation in the deep bass from such a design as the Torus audible when paired with a very fast monitor, or slight ...
Review: Sonus Faber Guarnieri Homage Speaker
Davey, can you comment a bit more about the Torus subs vs. other subs you have heard. The technology makes them seem ideal, and are priced accordingly. I have never had a chance to hear them.
The search among the great ones - 20k+ speakers
I would add to your impressive list the TAD CR1's (and not just because I sell them). They present a tremendous amount of detail woven throughout the spectrum, yet are not bright, brittle, fatiguing, thin or mechanical sounding. Either tube or soli...
Strain gauge vs Zyx 4D/Atmos
Leicachamp,If you are close enough to take a trip to NYC, you can hear the Strain Gauge on our Phantom II arm on a TTWeights Momentus Duo Drive table. The speakers are TAD CR1's which as a point source are phase and time accurate enough to hear the...
Atma-Sphere MA-2 amplifier
Thanks for pointing out this review. As a long time Atma-sphere user, and fan of Ralph's work, it's great to see recognition for his latest designs. So enamored, Years ago I decided to become a dealer because there were none in the New York area.Th...
Favorite poorly-recorded albums
I have always thought Todd Rundgren's albums often sound poor, but I really love the music. I can remember bringing around Nearly Human, a (live in studio) digital recording. I couldn't have any system that wouldn't allow me to enjoy this wonderfu...
Wanted to share with GON members my new "JOB"
