You know you are an Audiophile when:
Keep 'em coming.  Wait a minute.  Did I actually write every post here?
Blind or Just Deaf?
Chorus -- I can't remember the exact speakers that were in the comparo where I wound up buying my current Nola Boxers, but I believe they were the equivalent-sized B&Ws, or perhaps a pair of Rogers.  I've never had a megawatt stereo system or ...
is this the greatest live band of all time?
How many of the bands/artists mentioned above have I seen live?  I guess we're all about the same age.  In addition to the ones mentioned in my post above...a sampling --  I saw Pink Floyd a couple times.  I liked them a lot.Wynton Marsalis at the...
Blind or Just Deaf?
I'm always happy to do a double-blind test.  As long as I trust the test-giver & venue, supply my own test recordings, be the person who matches the sound levels and is the person who gives the order to do the change.  I've actually done it mo...
Why cuts into vinyl covers?
I just found a slit cut-out copy of a Philips classical LP among my vinyl. Nielsen and Sibelius Symphonies. Recorded live at the famed Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Of course, I hadn’t listened to it in probably 20 years. I barely knew it existed. I...
Lincoln Center - Carousel
There's a Carousel available for streaming on Qobuz.  Imaging is a remnant from the stereophonic stone age and the sound is AM radio compressed & midrangey, but the performance (I think it's the Met Opera) is totally wonderful.  Indeed, a supe...
is this the greatest live band of all time?
Glad to see that all you dudes/dudettes would occasionally wrest yourself from your rig to actually watch folks wield musical instruments.  To be sure, it's a hassle and a crap-shoot, but when it hits it really hits hard.
Lincoln Center - Carousel
Yeah, I love Carousel.  I saw it once live, I can't remember where.  Shockingly, I don't seem to have an LP of it.  I thought I'd scooped it up from my parents' collection.  I believe my mother danced in one of the road show touring productions, w...
Have you ever heard "This Whole World"?
Yeah, I love the Beach Boys.  I stayed with them when the Flower Children spurned them.  I remember trying to figure out the chord changes to Brian Wilson's songs and being totally defeated.   I've got the Endless Summer compilation on LP.  I've g...
Why cuts into vinyl covers?
dekay -- sorry but no.  I got to say, too, that Tower Records has always been a true revolving door when it comes to clerks & floor managers.  But did I mention that I met my wife while working at a Tower?  She's the cyn in edcyn.
What do you sit on?
rickytickytwo -- every camping chair I've ever tried forces my back into a slump.  Different strokes...
Oldest Recordings that sound “audiophile”
I'll stick to non-classical here.  Cannonball Adderley and Nancy Wilson on Capitol.  Any of the Sinatra or Nat King Cole Capitol recordings will do, too.
Considering to move to a Devialet system.
I auditioned a Devialet at a high-end joint before I departed the big city.  I dragged my Primaluna in for a comparo.  The Devialet sounded superb and I loved the package but my Primaluna unfortunately sounded a hair more to my taste.  I didn't pu...
Emotional rollercoaster
I never upgrade components willy-nilly.  I'm not a trigger-puller.  When I get to a point where I really like what I hear I pretty much get off the carousel for a while.  It doesn't hurt that, ever since I left the mid-fi universe for the tweaky a...
Why cuts into vinyl covers?
When I worked at Tower Records in the early 1980's, I just loved the LPs  we affectionately called Cut Outs.  Mostly they were promotional copies sent to the record stores in the hope they'd be played on the store's record player and perhaps garne...
