Does streaming music equate to high concert ticket prices
Whenever I log onto a music streaming website like Qobuz or Idagio, chances are I'll go to my Favorites and choose one of them to play. I've played some of them at least fifty times. How many times do I have to push the button to give the artist a...

@viber6 Great post. It all rings true for this acoustic music junkie. No matter how much punishment my ears have taken through the decades.😁
You've run some pretty fancy MC's, but the _______ MM cartridge really impressed me
I can't remember the specific models, but I derived years of pleasure out of my two Grados.  They tracked well. They delivered big juicy sound. Imaging, if not laser precise, felt natural and a good deal like what real life sound is really like. M...
Does streaming music equate to high concert ticket prices
Live concerts for major acts and purchasing their tix have always been a trying experience, at least for this longtime live music fan. The tix have always been difficult to get, and getting inside the venue has seldom been easy, either. I gotta t...
the big one: how do you choose speakers? By what features, data?
Either I'm lucky or I just don't care enough anymore to shop for something as crucial as a pair of speakers, but that's mostly because I did my final major component shopping before I left L.A. for my current small-town home, which is a decent pla...

@dodgealum -- Thread drift is a fact of life in these modern times. Succumb to it. Revel in it. It doesn't hurt that loose fingers sometimes yield valuable insights.
Musico-audio experience
I'm perfectly fine listening to someone else's music system at either a commercial establishment or another person's house, as long as the bass isn't too thuddy and the volume isn't too high. It's only with my stereo that I'm driven nuts if things...
Another man down
He possessed one of those great rolling baritone folkie voices.  A fine guitar player, too. Whenever I pick up my acoustic guitar and do a song, I naturally gravitate to Gordon Lightfoot's style.

You don't need to pick 'n choose.  Enjoy 'm both. Just be a bit more tolerant of the fact that hi-fi quality and musical quality don't coincide quite as often as you might like.
The Sota Cosmos Vacuum Turntable
This thread provoked my memory. I indeed had one of the very early SOTA vacuum hold-down tables. And yeah, there was more there there, no matter what LP I put on. When the vacuum hold-down eventually went south, I believe the company offered me a ...
Gordon Lightfoot, Canadian folk legend, dead at 84
Back in my early folksinging/acoustic guitar playing days, he was the artist I emulated the most. I just loved the guy. Did I see him perform at the Troubadour once-upon-a-time? My memory fails. Rest in Peace!
dumb and simple questions from a noob
It you can, go to stores that sell the stuff. Let the sales people hustle you. Just stay strong when the sales people put the pressure on for a quick buy.

viber6  -- Oh yeah. A long, long time ago I saw the Preservation Hall Band at Preservation Hall. Truly excellent. It didn't hurt that I was maybe 16 at the time and was able to get a beer (my let's-have-fun older cousin headed up the trip, not my ...

@charliech You got a couple of my favorites... Everything from Life's Rich Pageant. Truly majestic Rock and Roll. Cream's Swlabr. Clapton comes up with an A+ level lead guitar hook.
