Opinions on vintage cj amps and Teflon cap mods I would say no, as they probably believe this is part of their musical edge over other audio peers with their" own voiced" teflon caps. Send them an email and ask - they are a very nice company. They told me who made them (made in the USA) , howev...

Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Dgob Your system is looking like a mini-Raul. Looks like his views on hifi have rubbed off. Just looking at each other systems would indicate that you would prefer a more accurate view of music - whereas someone looking at mine would say I prefer...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Ian - you shit stirer :-) No it's just Raul agrees with me on the XV-1 v XV-1s. Not that I agree with everything Raul says. no offence implied Raul :-) Anyway, I have bought a cheap NOS ADC cartridge on Raul's recomendation - so we shall see very...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? DgobI totally agree with Raul re XV-1 and XV-1s. I have owned XV-1 since 2001 and bought an XV-1s in 2005. IMO the XV-1 is a more natural sounding wheras the XV-1s is more hifi sounding. The XV-1 has a certain " magic" to its sound where the XV-1s...
Killing sibilance distortion - VPI & Jubilee Do you get the siblance from using the plain old VPI one point jig? You need to ensure that the front VTA riser in the middle front of the jubille is under the VPI arm and parallel to the bottom of the headshell.
Ortofon Windfeld - anyone heard one? So Raul What recommendations do you make for MM cartridges that are readily available. I prefer a full dynamic sound compared to the lean and bright variety.
Ortofon Windfeld - anyone heard one? Axel Vtvu pretty much nailed the sound of the SPU compared to the Jubilee. The SPU Royal GM is one of those wonderful warm almost fat sounding cartridges in the upper bass/lower midrange, however the replicant 100 stylus gives the sound nice exten...
Ortofon Windfeld - anyone heard one? Axel, I have the SPU Royal G - use it on my Ortofon AS-309S. Looking for a new cartridge to put on my Phantom. Taylor - My Jubilee is now at a very good home with my old VPI HRX. I guess the trouble with the Jubilee was that it was always being so...
Who has heard the new ARC ref 2 phono? Lewm Basically what the others have said. each preamp where the gain is 6H30 to me sounded somewhat sterile and unmusical. will be interesting how the REF phono sounds as the PH7 sounds quite good.
The final Act in a study in preamps the ART 3 I just picked up an ART series 3. Out of the box it sounds wonderful. It has about 100 hours on it now and is just getting better and better while maintaining all the strong points of the original ART. Just a magical timeless music making machine ...
Who has heard the new ARC ref 2 phono? I just read the Specs. 6h30's providing all the gain. oh dear - YUK
SRA Isolation Platform under a Turntable Does the SRA isolate against all freefall / seismic feedback? I own a TW Raven AC-3 and suffer from some of this. My Symposium Ultra is absolutely useless in isolating any turntable.
Opinions on vintage cj amps and Teflon cap mods I recently bought a pair of cj prem 8a's and had conrad johnson do the teflon cap upgrade. The upgrade consisted of replacing the eight coupling capacitors (inverter to output tubes) with .15 uF Teflon capacitors and replacing 6 more capacitors (... |
