cj Premier 11 capacitor upgrade Hi Phaelon No the teflon caps do not sound terrible on the amplifiers - they will get better but will sound pretty good off the bat. You get more body, flow and slightly better dynamics as the caps break in. OTOH, the pre amp with teflon caps chan...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hi Siniy123.thanks for your advise. I have it at parallel now. The ADC is a good cartridge, however the Empire is in a class above.regards
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hi RaulNo my MM is loaded at 47K. Sounds like you need to petition for the global standard on loading MM cartridges to change from 47K to 100K. Good luck!Capacitance is at 250pf at the moment. I will experiment with that. Is the theory going down ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hi allI too have changed the VTA on the Empire 1080LT to arse up. It does sound better, smoother yet more detailed, better timing and more bass impact / weight. Like Dgob, I need to play around a bit more with the VTA, but arse up is definately th...
2nd tonearm on HRX PaulI have an Ortofon AS-309-S on my Raven and it is very good. the detachable headshell is very handy indeed.I believe Jelco OEM the ortofon tonearms.
2nd tonearm on HRX Paul, go for it. My HRX had the JMW tonearm hard bolted direct into the plinth, so doing the same on the other side should have no sonic impact.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Eisunius No, definately use the MM. MC cartridges are generally in between 0.2mv & 0.7mv. The 1080LT is 3.0 mv - a lot more. Let us know how it sounds in your setup.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Raul, positive VTA is the back higher right? Mine needs to come up then. Dgob, Raul - have you removed that flimsy cartridge cover on the 1080LT? wondering if removing that flimsy thing improves the SQ. I have only tried the MM's with whatever Or...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Axcel, Sounds like you may need some tubes in your system if you are to go back to MC's :-)I have used so far an ADC XLM III and it sounds nice, but it seems to lack any PRAT so is a little boring.Audio Technica AT25 - beautifully built integrated...
Best Phono stage for my system - from my list I am with Steve - 834P or cj EV1
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Gents, Is there any correlation with your perference of MM's with their purity and lack of brightness with all the SS gear you have? IMO tubes can a lot of the MM ease and more that you are talking about.
Whats the best $1500 tonearm for a Teres Get one of the new Ortofon 9 or 12 inch arms. They are excellent period and for the money almost unbeatable.
Phono preamp If you want some nice natural tube phono - TW Acustik from Germany is excellent - I own one or if SS, the latest rave is Audia Flight phono from Italy. Two of my audio buddies own them. One of them previously owned the ASR battery phono stage. He ...
Vinyl Alignment Solution - anyone used this? I also use Mint LP on my Raven/Phantom. Yip I believe uses the standard Baer, Loef or Stevenson alignment methods - this seems to be different again. With our ability to move pivot to spindle & overhang, it would be interesting to play with no...
SP10 Mk II vs Mk III I may chime in here and agree with the bass dynamics and jump factor of good DD tables. I just recently bought a 30 year old Exclusive P10. Coupled with a Koetsu Rosewood it has better bass dynamics and drive than my TW Raven AC-3/Phantom/ dyna XV... |
