What is the best amplifier for Tannoy Kensington ?
@senza I listen to the ATM3's regularly with Tannoy Autographs.I would suggest single chassis Air Tight ATM1s, ATM300 or try the EAR integrated amps - they are well built and sound great. At a lower price the Prima Luna integrated amps punch well a...
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
@lewm Fyi - the VTA adjustable collar from the 507 fits the 501.I actually have a couple of them. You might be able to buy one from the Dynavector agent.
What is the best amplifier for Tannoy Kensington ?
The Leben amplifiers are pleasant to listen to but not highly resolving - I've heard them on the the Kensington's. The Kensington's deserve better - look at Shindo/Air Tight.
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
@lewm Although they have similar principles in terms of higher lateral effective mass relative to vertical effective mass, the bass from the Dynavector 501 arm is much quicker, tighter and cleaner than the DP8 from my personal experience with both...
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
@scar972 I think the DP6 is best bang for the buck on Moerch. One further point, the DP8 came standard with TCI Viper arm cable which was pretty course and lacking transparency. I make my own phono cables using MIT cable - this was a vast improveme...
Favorite Platform for Linn LP12
@daveyf @no_regrets On a serious note I still fettle Linns. If you have a suspended timber floor, in my view you cant beat a light rigid wall hung shelf hung on a structural wall - structural wall being load bearing, with direct vertical path to fo...

@don_c55 Re the Zyx, a friend of mine has had 2 out of 3 new Zyx subpar that have had to be replaced - manufacturing faults et al. I have also seen brand new Koetsu's where the cantilever has had to be realigned ( rotated such that the diamond is ...

@daveyf Final Audio Research VTT-1 has been my reference for the past 30 years.Garrard 301/FR64S modified for casual listening & 78'sGarrard 301 replaced Platine Verdier which was disappointing.I did have a Linn with Syrinx PU2 back in the ear...
Copper, silver, or gold MC cartridge coils?
@don_c55 You stated that the silver wired Zyx has 3 years usage, and the copper wired Zyx has 1.5 years use.You stated that the Gold wired Zyx is new. Therefore the comparison is irrelevant and your conclusion flawed.Furthermore, I would wager that...
Koetsu Rosewood Sig or other Koetsu on medium mass arms
@fjn04 I've set up a truckload of Koetsu's across the board from Blacks, Reds,  to the stone bodied on a range of arms. One point I would suggest you have a think about is where are you going with your front end. There is a valid argument from my o...
Phono Stage, How much do I need to spend, New or used.
If you are on a budget the Hagerman Cornet3 tube phono is good value at $439 new.Going up to around 1$k - EAR 834 tube phono is great value for money.JLTi is a good phono, better than the Lehman in my view but given your requirement I would look f...

I found a green plastic wheely bin was the best platform for my Linn.
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
@scar972 Hi - I set up the DP8 12" - comments as followsCartridge alignment easy with removeable arm tube & you simply line the stylus tip up with the edge of the headshell if you have installed the arm at the correct pivot to stylus. I checke...

Is the DP-8 really a unipivot? I thought only the UP-4 is a true unipivot. No. The DP6/8 uses a dual pivot, similar to the traditional knife edge bearings in the old SME arms except that instead of knife edges it uses points and cups. Far more st...
Can upgrading your front end make your bad records sound good?
@mglik Your new cartridge and preamp should be great.I would suggest you do one change at a time, do one, have a listen for a couple of days, and then the other - this will give you a better understanding of your system, which will be handy for fu...
