Cartridge recommendation around $2k?
The problem is your arm, not the cartridge. You wil never get ripsnorting bass out of that unipivot. If you are wedded to the VPi unipivot, you want a medium compliance cartridge. Also I see in your system you use a Lamm phono - I had one in my sys...

VTA AdjustmentWithout getting in the weeds too much most folk use high frequency and base response to adjust VTA., effectively using  it as a tone control for their particular system This is wrong.Correct VTA is when the stylus aligns with the cut...
Upgrading my table - your thoughts...
@kibble4 I would based, on my own listening experience, get the Rega P8 and put the Benz on it. It's a great combo and will be an improvement on your existing turntable. The Rega MC's can be a bit aggressive in some systems.

@bydlo I settled on 22k vishays for Garrott Bros modified Decca London Gold with micro scanner. Probably set up about 10-15 of them in various arms. Also tried mounting resistors on cartridge, end of arm and emd of phono cable. Each position chang...
Amperex "Bugle Boy" tube compatibility
@lewm Actually you can run a 12AX7 with a 6V filament supply. In this case it would only require some re-wiring of the tube socket. But that’s the least of the reasons why not to do it.This post is irresponsible. If someone reads the first sentenc...
Soundsmith Aida vs Hana sh
@pipetowersThe Project arm is not a great arm - therefore I believe you should stick to a medium/high compliance cartridge that does not exacerbate the Projects shortcomings - Soundsmith medium compliance. Even a less expensive Soundsmith with med...
Zyx mistracking issue
My only experience with Zyx is 2 out of 3 purchased brand new had production faults. Wouldn't touch one wth a 40 foot barge pole even though I did like the Omega very much, when it was built properly.
Amethyst versus Nagaoka MP-150/MP-200
@three_pawsSince nobody has answered your question here's my take. The Nagaoka MP range has an easy open sound, best attribute is openness through the midrange. However the high frequency transparency and precision is ok at best. The Nagaoka's tend ...
TT Hum
@au_laitDimmers are notorious for generating rf noise - I wont have them in the house anywhere.
Suggestions to upgrade from Lyra Delos
s@dducatAs I said the Audiomods is a very good arm for the money and punches above its weight. There are arms up to $5k that in my view are better - the Kuzma 4Point9 for example @ around $4.5kIf you had $7k for arm/cart - then $5k arm/$2k cart wi...
Suggestions to upgrade from Lyra Delos
I have run the Audiomods tonearm in a Platine Verdier. It is a great arm for the money, a giantkiller, but in my view it is not a top arm. In my view you should stick to medium compliance cartridges for this arm - Van den Hul & Dynavector movi...
Cartridge upgrade?
am I going overkill with a $3-4k cartridge given my tone arm/tt? PossiblyI’m pretty happy with the sound I’m getting currently but want to stay away from a cartridge that’s too forward sounding. I love the high end detail I’m getting from the diam...
Phono stage question
Hi,  The CareySLP70 is actually a very good and musical preamp, and is not the weakest link. I would upgrade the turntable if you want best bang for the dollar. If you have just purchased the TT I would suggest asking Carey Audio what upgrades are...
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
@scar972 I've heard the Schick on a Garrard, I think if you put the DP6 or DP8 on instead of the Schick you would get a great improvement - more finesse, more transparent.
Morch DP-8 arm on a Helix Two turntable
@scar972 I set the Moerch up on a heavily modded Garrard 401, Blue 12" arm tube with a van den hul Colibri. The effective mass was just within the range specified by van den hul for the Colibri. The Red was too light for the Colibri. Overall sound...
