turntable mat : boston mat, audioquest sorbogel ma
These are two (very) different mats, so your post is pretty confusing. Can you clarify? For starters, what turntable are you considering?
Why do you never near anything about Spectral
Jond is correct. Buying equipment is not an option for the magazines since the value drops a LOT once the box is open (except for very popular, in-demand items) and the magazines can't afford to do this as a policy. There's never been a time that ...
Are reviewers biased towards equipment they own?
Despite the reviewer's best efforts to be objective, the answer has to be: of course.
Rega RB300 wire/cable upgrade
Go to www.BritAudio.comThey sell the kit and will install it if you want. No affiliation, but I recommend them highly. Good luck, Dave
New Cartridge Gone Wrong
I have two DL-103s, one on a JMW 10.5 and one on a modded Rega RB-300. They sound great on both, better than any other carts I've tried. On the other hand, I heard one of mine on a Triplanar arm and it sounded hard, bright, and grainy, but it was ...
speaker cable length question
Different strokes (or something). My speakers are within 3 feet of my monoblock amps, but 8-foot spaker cables sound better to me than 3-footers. This does follow Pierre Sprey's (Mapleshade) dictum that the minimum speaker cable length should be 8...
Just bought a nitty gritty, hear no difference.
I use and like the AIVS fluids too, but I've never had to bother with the Zerostat (I do have one) because the AIVS treatment has always eliminated any static charge on the records. Forever? Who knows, but for a year at least. And I have SEVERE st...

The Record Doctor III has a removable tray for the spent liquid.
VPI Aries with JMW-10 need help
Try again, Schipo. The CJ Premier 5 is a power amp and the Premier 9 is a DAC :-)Me, I'd go for a Denon DL-103 and an EAR 834P (used) and save half your money. Good luck, Dave
A blood oath among Audiogonistas
I tend to gravitate to the all-caps posts. Figure no one will both reading it and, because of what it says about the seller's intelligence level, might contain a real bargain. But that's me :-)
Black Diamond Racing Coneon Gallo Reference3
I'm curious. What don't you like about the stock cones? But then I'm perverse -- think the Bright Star Stands look really weird. Hope they work for you. Good luck with these fabulous speakers. Dave
What New Cartridge should I get for my VPI?
I just sold my Dynavector 10X5 because I like the Denon DL-103 much better. The Dynavector is by no means a bad cartridge, but there's something very special about the Denon. I don't know whether or not your husband's phonostage has enough gain to...
What New Cartridge should I get for my VPI?
Just a guess, but I think he would like the wood-bodied Grados. They start at $300 (the "Platinum" model), and go up to around $1200 (the "Reference") with intermediate models at $500 and $800. If you go this route, be sure to get the high-output ...

Can a scratched record...
No first hand knowledge, but I understand that you can play a record "wet" and at least reduce the audible effects of the record damage. Can anyone explain or comment?
