Aesthetix Rhea?
Only ONE pair of inputs on the Chinook? Not a chance. I'm using all three on the Rhea and it's a kick to be able to change gain and loading (plus demag) from the remote.
Aesthetix Rhea?
Just a note that Aesthetix has topnotch factory service. Fast and helpful, in my experience. Ask for Glenn Buckley.
Audio-Technica AT-MONO3/SP and AT-mono/LP
I just bought the 78 rpm model (from LP Gear) and it came yesterday. On the first few 78s I've played, it is REALLY great-sounding. Very low surface noise and a real feeling of immediacy. Blows my other 78 carts (Grado and Stanton) into the weeds....
Aesthetix Rhea?
Love it, and haven't had any noise issues with mine that I can recall. The stock tubes are fine, but after talking to a gentleman at Aesthetix, I've replaced the 12AX7 tubes with NOS 7058 types and like what I'm hearing.
RCA / BALANCED OUTPUT
What's the point? All your gear accepts only RCA plugs, and an XLR to RCA cable gives you nothing that an RCA to RCA cable wouldn't.
Classic 3 and Zephyr
I've figured it out (I think). The issue is the distance from the cart's mounting holes to its stylus tip. I just held another cartridge up next to the Zephyr and it's obvious that this distance (in the other cart) is less than it is on the Zephyr...
Classic 3 and Zephyr
My Zephyr is mounted a little more than halfway back in the JMW 10.5i slots, but I didn't think much about it. Great cartridge.
Oppo 95-Integra 80.3 connection
Internetmin, what is the "95SE"? Didn't know there was such an animal.
Audio Pro B2-50 Subwoofer Anyone?
I had a B2-50 and agree with Newbee. It definitely poops out early.
best preamp for CJ MF2500a at 2000 to 2500 dollars
Me, I'd definitely go with the Calypso. But then, I have one :-)In the CJ range, take a pass on the Premier 14 and maybe look for a Premier 17LS2 (the "2" is important here). Main reason I switched from the 17LS2 to the Calypso is that I needed a ...
How to check for stylus wear?
I have a Zephyr too and have spoken to Peter about what I thought was a "low rider" issue. His suggestions included running the Zephyr's VTF at 1.4g on my 10.5i arm and raising the back end of the tonearm up to where it was no longer level but app...
How to check for stylus wear?
Contact Peter. I wouldn't trust any other approach.
Demagnetization for MC - good or bad?
Cartridge demagnetizers have been around for decades. I remember the first time I used my old Sumiko Fluxbuster on a Dynavector 23R that had never been demagged. Really unbelievable improvement. AJ is well known for opposing the use of these thing...
Demagnetization for MC - good or bad?
I had the exact opposite reaction. Never could hear a bit of difference after using the Cardas LP -- repeatedly -- but the Aesthetix demag (built into my Rhea phonostage) opens up the sound.
loose IEC power cord connection?
Okay, but put a Furutech IEC connector on your power cord and I'll bet you can hear the difference :-)This is assuming that you can do this without miswiring, electrocuting yourself, burning the place down, or otherwise wishing you hadn't.
