Aesthetix Io sgn. not working, please help
I was going to recommend contacting Glenn Buckley at Aesthetix but see that you already have him in mind.
Looking for the BASS
It depends, among other things, on the frequency at which the sub comes in, and whether or not the main speakers are crossed over or allowed to run full-range. In the case of my Gallo TR-3 subs, the recommendation (in the owner's manual) is to pos...
Neuance shelfs - are they still build?
Sorry, no. He stopped building them years ago.
2 questions concerning Gallo Stradas
They sound a little bright/lean because they have no real bottom end. I have the Stradas and two TR-3 subwoofers (same drivers all around as the 3.5s) and believe me they are NOT lean. I had Reference 3s for the last 8 years and the Strada/TR-3 co...
How long daes it take your gear to warm up?
A couple hours for my all-tube system, though it's at least listenable after 45 minutes.
Best cable elevators for pc and speaker cables?
Dayglow, I have a system-ful of tweaks. I just prefer the ones that work.
Best cable elevators for pc and speaker cables?
I would suggest that you make some elevators out of whatever comes to hand (coffee cups, toilet paper cores, chopsticks held together by rubber bands, whatever) and then listen. I have mine up on some homemate elevators but really doubt that I cou...
RTR esr 15 info
Interesting thread. I had two pairs of Infinity 2000A speakers (stacked) and was unaware until I sold them of just how many RTR tweeters had quietly died. There were 4 of the blue RTR panels in each speaker, arrayed in a vertical line with the top...
Amp is plugged to the wall, why use a conditioner?
Depends on the conditioner and the amp(s). Also, before doing anything else, I'd have dedicated lines installed just for the stereo system. The usual recommendation is for 20 amp lines. My Tice Power Block III put the lie to the idea that conditio...
Difference in 300b and 845?
More oomph (technical term) for one thing. I've had 845 SET monoblocks in my system for 8 years and when I hear a 300B amp here, it lacks the authority to move me. Which of course depends to a large extent on the speakers' sensitivity, and maybe y...
Anthony Gallo Due's, any thoughts?
I used to have a pair. They're very nice-sounding speakers, albeit with little or no bass. If you run them up front you'll need a sub or two. The price is not bad.
Ground Cheater plug or....
Someone clearly needs to produce an "audiophile" cheater plug for 50 bucks or so :-)
Oppo BDP83SE vs Oppo BDP95
Jfz, you captured what I was hearing, better than I did. Except for the "strident" part. What I heard was more polite. Maybe it gets more strident as it breaks in :-)Seriously, I listened for only a couple of hours but I did have my 83SE for direc...
Oppo BDP83SE vs Oppo BDP95
Jdub39, I do find it odd that my 83SE required little or no break-in (yes, I bought it new). What is it about the 95 that demands a ridiculous (to me) 500 hours? Did you compare the 83SE to the 95 in your system?
Oppo BDP83SE vs Oppo BDP95
I have a BDP83SE and a friend brought over a BDP95 to compare in my system (all tube, Aesthetix Calypso linestage, custom 845 SET monoblocks, Gallo speakers) for SACDs played in stereo mode. I fully expected to get a BDP95 on the assumption that i...
