Economical alternative to Wadia ipod dock? Apple TV is the way to go: $225 (too bad the price just went up it was $199) for the 40GB model. It has an optical out, is extremely easy to use and sounds excellent. I avoided the Wadia becuase it clearly was "ergonomically inept" -- the AppleTV ...

Does ProGold have a shelf life? I just caught up with the additional posts. Yes I bought new stuff. Yes I'm going to redo all of it. Yes the amount of improvement I obtain from taking all the time to redo this will probably be somewhere between negligible and tiny. Yes it's more...
If you could replace one link... Thanks for the responses Kurt and Phil. SORRY! Didn't know the subject had been beaten to death. I remembered something about this, but couldn't come up with the right search terms. Anyway, your two responses are quite helpful, so thanks!
Suck out at 165 hz...can't find the cause Okay, thanks again guys, and I think based on the additional websites you have sent me that Shadorne is probably correct and this is the quarter wave cancellation -- main listening seating (couch) is right against the rear wall, and so my ears are...

Suck out at 165 hz...can't find the cause Darkmoebius --thanks for the response. I have tried a few of these sites before. They are useful, but I've never fully understood what I'm looking at, and I definitely don't understand how you interpret the results to see which frequencies will be...
Totem Sinew vs Acoustic Zen Matrix ll?? I too, found better cables for my Totem Forest than the Sinew/Tress. Although I did think the Sinew/Tress was among the best I had used with them. For me, Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ and Magic Links sounded better. Haven't tried the Acoustic Zen, a...
Single most effective electronic room treatment? Very interesting and informative thread. Does ProGold have a shelf life? Thanks guys! And of course, BUMMER. It does have a shelf life, and even if I take an optimistic interpretation of "conservative ratings" of 2-3 years, 5 years is too old.How fun for me to redo all of that.Sometimes this hobby can be annoying.
Converting to Apple Lossless Your suspicion is correct -- what was once loss cannot be recovered withou re-ripping your collection. The file size is bigger but there isn't any additional information content there. |
