Can I Use One Channel Of A Stereo Power Amp?
Some of the NAD stereo power amps are bridgeable into mono.
Transport and DAC pairings
I realize in re-reading my post that I got a bit off track from my more general question. I suppose what I'm trying to discover is if there are transport and DAC combinations (either of the same brand or different ones) that are particularly compe...
"Get Better Sound"
Thanks all. Much appreciated. The advertising is somewhat hyped, but it's hard to know what to make of it.
Lead Shot Substitute for Loading Speaker Cabinets?
There's another thread on substituteshttp://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cspkr&1243725688&openflup&1&4#1
A new Apple TV Question
Just one other thought, which you may have already tried. AppleTVs are great but they do get confused every now and again. For example, I rented a moview on mine the other day and it wouldn't play it. Every time I tried, I got a white screen of de...
A new Apple TV Question
Are both Apple TV's on the same network? On my second system the AppleTv is connected to the LAN wirelessly. First system is wired LAN. With the wireless, there were firewall problems leading to iTunes not recognizing the AppleTv. There are fixes ...
Recommended AES/EBU cables under 800 dollars
Steve3859 -- yes you are right. The HT website has it at "$3000+" but it must be a typo because Tweekgeek and Needledoctor sell it for $1500. Given all of the improvements, it seems the new version would be the one to try once one comes along used...
Recommended AES/EBU cables under 800 dollars
Thank you all very much for your responses, and thank you also to those of you who e-mailed me separately. Sidssp -- of course this is the old debate on this forum that has occupied many, many lines of text about whether you get what you pay for i...
Recommended AES/EBU cables under 800 dollars
I think the HT Photon is a $3500 cable. Hard to see, even used, how that would end up in the sub $800 range, but thank you for the suggestion.
Bi-amp befuddlement
Thanks Bdgregroy. I appreciate your response!
Bi-amp befuddlement
I had always been told that to get any real benefit from bi-amping you need to disable the speakers internal crossover and use an active external crossover. Yet the posts here suggest otherwise. Can anyone enlighten me on this point?
Balanced vs. Unbalanced - What does it mean?
Not meaning to give Kal (Kr4) a hard time with this post, as his responses on this forum are hugely valuable and much appreciated, but I *am* surprised, Kal at your response here.I remember quite well your excellent review of the Bel Canto PL-1A i...
Berensford DAC
My jury is out. I think it sounds pretty good. But I don't think I have adequate amplification for the speakers I am using, and that is not allowing me to take the full measure of the DAC, hence no follow-up on the DAC from me yet. I'm need to dea...
Upgrade: Speakers or Amp. mod?
I found that with my last pair of speakers, every time I upgraded something upstream, they showed me more of what they could do. It was only when they were truly the weakest link in the chain that I finally upgraded the speakers.
DH Labs Digital Audio RCA ...any good?
Thanks all, much appreciated.
