Totem Dreamcatcher vs. Arro I haven't compared the specs of the speakers, but my Dad has the Dreamcatchers and I have the Arros. IMHO the Arros sound substantially better. YMMV
TacT, Lyngdorf, Audyssey Pre/Pro, PARC? You guys have convinced me (also some other professional reviews) -- the idea that you go with a computer's auto-correction and then stop seems a bit antithetical to this hobby. Many/most of us who psot here try lots of things and go to a lot of e...
right angle RCA adapters: will they harm sound? Thanks everyone. very helpful.
TacT, Lyngdorf, Audyssey Pre/Pro, PARC? Okay this is enormously helfupl. Kal and all, thanks for all your time.--dan
TacT, Lyngdorf, Audyssey Pre/Pro, PARC? Kal, this is very helpful, and most appreciated. Just to make sure I am understanding you:- you think that the one box solution -- the built in DACs and pre-amps in a pre/pro (that also happens to have EQ as a very important added benefit) is more...
right angle RCA adapters: will they harm sound? Ozzy --To be sure this is correct theoretically and probably in actuality too. What I'm trying to discover is whether -- in practice -- people have been able to discern a meaningful difference in sound quality when using these adapters. My options ...
Newbie Troubleshooting Question You bet, but note it could be as simple as the interconnect cable. Try replacing the one that seems to be indicated based on your swapping.
TacT, Lyngdorf, Audyssey Pre/Pro, PARC? Okay, fair enough. Let's assume no vinyl (I was too busy buying musical instruments as a musician to spend money on records). So digital sources for music (either redbook CDs, SACDs, or files on a hard drive). I have a high end "universal" disc pl...
TacT, Lyngdorf, Audyssey Pre/Pro, PARC? Thanks all for responses. Kal, I understand your point completely. The problem is that I am planning on replacing an old pre/pro. I more of a two channel guy, but I still need home theater and multi-channel. While I cannot get a second system in a...
right angle RCA adapters: will they harm sound? Eric, thanks for the helpful answer. If you don't know the brand name, what about the dealer?
Newbie Troubleshooting Question Yes, absolutely what Rwwear said. I meant to question you if the hum is really coming out of one speaker (make sure you don't hear it in the other one -- even if a bit softer). If it is only coming out of the one speaker, then the problem could be...
Newbie Troubleshooting Question The hiss sounds perfectly normal. The hum does not. A few suggestions:- plug all equipment into the same outlet (using a decent power strip), assuming this won't overload the circuit.- try plugging interconnects into a different channel on the pre...
do you need to elevate interconnects? Thanks Stanwal. I guess I'm still wondering about the main question -- which is generally in people's experience, do you need to elevate interconnects for the best sound? Opus88's suggestion to try it and see is of course reasonable, but my proble...
do you need to elevate interconnects? Opus88, thanks for your response, very helpful. I wonder why more people don't avoid the whole elevating the speaker cable issue by going with longer interconnect runs and shorter speaker cables. While there is a lot of debate about whether longer...
small ish floor standers WAF 5-8K Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to be looking into all of these! |
