Apple TV vs Wadia 170i?
Agree on this completely. I looked into both of them, and not only is there more to the AppleTV, but the ergonmics and functioning of the unit will be much more consistent with the idea of a music server. Plug it in and it works. Sound quality is ...
anyone else hate locking RCAs?
Yes, I'm in agreement with the XLR crowd. Even if you don't realize any sonic benefits with balanced connections (with my equipment I definitely do), the connectors alone make them wortwhile IMHO. Unfortunately, they are not an option for all comp...
thin, very flexible, warm sounding interconnect...
Okay, a very helpful set of new suggestions. I like the idea of copper audionotes. A friend recommended the Lexus. Any thoughts on where to get some? Thanks all.
2 interconnects or y-cable?
Okay, not sure I'm following at this point, so let me clarify. I have an analog 2-channel pre-amp that does not have a subwoofer output. It has buffered balanced (XLR) outputs and single-ended (RCA) outputs that can both be used simultaneously. Th...

2 interconnects or y-cable?
Thanks Kal and Stan. Much appreciated.
thin, very flexible, warm sounding interconnect...

Jeff Rowland Capri vs Bel Canto Pre3
Guido--I haven't had the Pre3 in my system so I can't answer. The pre/pro has both digital and analog circuitry and is the older generation of BC products. As you may recall, your (and others') glowing reviews of the Capri helped me decide to buy ...
Jeff Rowland Capri vs Bel Canto Pre3
I can tell you that the Capri is warmer and fuller sounding than the Bel Canto Pre/Pro to my ears. But the pre/pro is quite different from the Pre3. I'm very impressed with the Capri after switching from an all Bel Canto system (that I was very ha...
CD Mats -- do they work? Are they dangerous?
Thanks for your responses everyone....guess you have to try for yourself and decide.
New DAC Not a Dramatic Improvement?
Agree with previous posters. Would add that you should consider your speakers. I finally broke down and upgraded mine. The new speakers have allowed me to hear more nuanced detail in all of my music, and to hear differences in different configurat...
where to get shorting plugs?
Thanks all, very helpful. I learned that Dedicated Audio sells the Cardas ones (Cardas produces both caps and shorting plugs).
Revel b15a subwoofer
thanks guys. it seems like a good fit for me, so I am indeed going to do it.
A/V recevier HDMI to TV, then Optical to DAC?
thanks all (and sorry for the doubled thread -- there's a repeat of this one a bit earlier. must have accidentally submitted it twice).yes, what I wasn't thinking about was the two channel limit and the question of what the TV will do (it does hav...
