What Cartridge please?
AT50ANV is precursor to ART7.  The product literature suggests that the two are identical, except that the non-magnetic coil armature was changed from titanium to stiffer and more lightweight liquid crystal polymer.  The commemorative ANV version ...
R.I.P. David Bowie
Traveling this evening in reverse from Black Star to Scary Monsters, Lodger, and Heroes. Every stage of his career ages gracefully. On balance he equals Lennon as a composer and Jagger as a singer and performer. And in the manner of his passing, w...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
Has anyone heard or owned a recent Music Vault server or compared one to Aurender or Antipodes? I’ve only heard the Music Vault at shows, but they have always sounded good. I would tend to lean toward Neal, as he was an early entrant in the market...
What Cartridge please?
Shawnlh, I haven't personally made the comparison, but I have an industry insider friend who rolls lots of top cartridges, and who positions the AT ART7 & ART9 above both the Kleos and the Delos.  I have an ART7 and will probably try an ART9. ...
What Cartridge please?
From a $250 DL110 to a $9K Etna. Oh yeah!
Audio-Technica AT-ART9 phono cartridge
FWIW, I had a good experience purchasing an ART7 from 2juki and an AT33MONO from a Japanese Amazon seller.  In the latter instance I didn't go for rock bottom price, but rather chose a vendor with good Amazon ratings.
Radiohead read on
I have them all on LP (UK vinyl as available.) Their releases on vinyl all sound fine and mostly uncompressed. Taken as a whole their work is the most creative arc in pop since the Beatles.  I miss the more structured song forms that peak with OK ...
Tonearms longer than 12 inches
"The way Jaguar got better is that they sold the company.   ...Tata"After Ford put $12 billion into acquiring, modernizing, and improving Jaguar, Ford sold it to Tata in a fire sale when in financial straits circa 2007.  Nothing like audio.
Tonearms longer than 12 inches
Hello Raul,  I'm mostly an accidental tourist with respect to tonearms, having owned only around 12 over the years.  Of late I have gravitated to the SME 3012R and compared this to a 11" Kuzma 4Point and a Micro Seiki 808X on the same turntable.  ...
RIP Lemmy
+1 tostadosunidos. I appreciate heavy rock, given at least a trace of avant garde wit(e.g. Soundgarden, Urge Overkill, Queens of the Stone Age, Husker Du, Alice in Chains-- maybe even Anthrax in a certain mood.) But Motorhead will be remembered as...

Thanks to all who have helped me in my quest for excellent sound.
The noise level on the audio forums is higher, but there are also fewer people left in the room-- making it easier to see through it.  But I'm with you on the grounds that one doesn't want be the last guest at a party.
Grace F9 F8 F-9 F-8 Andante F9 F-9 H S Sumiko Pearl Supex Phono Stylus GAS Sleeping Beauty
Lewm, it had been a long time since listening to my Grace F9 with $500 Soundsmith turnkey Ruby OCL stylus and red anodized aluminum stylus holder.  This morning  I mounted it to an SME 3012R at 47K and was once again treated to its superb performa...
LONDON Decca, Tzar DST and similar cartridges
kmccarty, what was Warren’s basis for suggesting that a first rate analog rig like yours would disrespect a top London cartridge? Sounds more like he was trying to drive you into a corner with Woody Allen, who once said that he refused to join any...
Equipment Repair
Dead wrong, czarivey.  I have over a dozen mods in my VK75SE, one even recommended by Victor.  I've been in touch with many Agoners who have taken this path with BAT amps and preamps-- none were dissatisfied.  No commercial design is engraved on t...
