Which Digital Level Gauge to buy?
I use my Android Phone w. a nice program. Does the trick. Program was free. I think an iPhone has the same program. Look up level in the application market. You can even calibrate it. And who says your turntable and platter are themselves 100% lev...
Dartzeel, Soulution or VTL 7.5 Series 2/3
The VTL 6.5 should be on your list. Very good value and better than much out there in its price range. The ARC Ref 3 is great at its strengths but it's weaknesses need to be considered and bass is a big one. The newer ARC preamps are better in thi...
Hi Fi Dealers in NYC - where to find them?
Wow. All these posts bring back old memories. My 1st audiophile listening g experience was somewhere in the village listening to a Rega with Spica TC50s I think. At that time Stereo Exchnage wasa few blocks over down the street. Wanted a Pink Tria...
Dartzeel, Soulution or VTL 7.5 Series 2/3
VTL 7.5 mk 3 is a great preamp. I don't know how to describe it other than the a merging of the magic and musicality of the mk 1 with the detail of the mk2 with better bass. Actually amazing bass and everything. Highly recommended. Full size image...
Phantom 2 arm using SME vs Graham mount
I almost agree. The ergonomics of the Graham w. the regular mount is much nicer. I didn't like the setup of the Graham w. the SME mount. I find it very different to an SME itself where it is made with fixed holes to attach to the table. The Graham...
Stand out phono stages
Rockitman, a strong second on that. It ain't cheap but a steal for what it does
Cartridge recommendations for TW Acustic 10.5 arm.
I am using an Allaerts MC2 finish on a Raven 10.5 . Now with the Pass XP25 all I can say is that is so close to end game (I wonder if this time it is true) as I do. The hear where to improve. Detail, phenomenal bass, dynamics, natural sound & ...
TW Acustic 10.5 and Graham Phantom Supreme II
The Cardas pins used are very long on the TW 10.5. I think it can be ordered with shorter pins. I have a big cartridge but no issue with the pins. But I know who does and understand why. I just bent the pins a touch but I would order with differen...
TW Acustic 10.5 and Graham Phantom Supreme II
Opus 88You can't go wrong with either arm. Both great with the XV1s. Philb7777,You need to know what cartridge. The Phantom is a unipivot compared to The TW which is a 10.5 inch gimballed arm. Very different designs.
TW-Acustic Raven 10.5 or DaVinci Grandezza??
My take is different than yours Dertonarm. I find the "tonality" of wood makes up for the ZYX Universe slight tendency to a leaner but more detailed sound. You might be right about the unipivots but wood for me was the major factor. I sold my ZYX ...
TW-Acustic Raven 10.5 or DaVinci Grandezza??
Quick question. Anyone compare the latest round of wood based Tonearms such as Durand, Talea to the latest from Schroeder & Davinci. I wonder how much of the sound can be attributed to wood. The reason I ask is all the Zyx universe comments we...
TW-Acustic Raven 10.5 or DaVinci Grandezza??
Raul,I just finished reading this long thread. I love how you say it like it is. Good for you. Dert,I stopped posting much on Audiogon because you & your group o f so called superior ears just ruined this site. Sorry but got to say it as I see...
Speaker cables for Wilson Sophia 3
I would look into Tara Labs 0.8. I use the Omega Onyx having upgraded from Transparent Reference XL V w. MM tech. I was a nice difference. I love the versatility of Tara and spacing the plus/minus leads can tune the sound. Good luck as most cables...
12 inch Graham Phantom
Measure the effective length of the tonearm with a ruler from the center of the screw slots to the pivot. Then plug that into Vinyl Engine's alignment calculator. This will give you the mounting distance. Maintain the iec standard and use Baerwald...
Is it possible to transform the EMM CDSA SE?
If someone on Agon says it is flat is it? If someone on Agon says X is better then Y is it? We need to trust our own ears. Don't worry about what people are saying. There are tons of very satisfied owners of CDSAse's. They just don't hang on the f...
