Do you keep your EMM DAC 6e on?
The fan w. a switch sounds like a great idea. Less expensive than a/c. Considering I am in the Caribbean, maybe I should get a fan to blow on the equipment when not in use during the day. I wonder if it is necessary?

Pass Labs X2.5 - vs. - Placette Active Preamps
Guy of Placette is against balanced esp in the active version. From what I understand in normal applications he is right. There are benefits to both.
Graham Phantom vs the Graham 2.2
Just a small comment. I have heard a few people mention in private that certain tonearms and components are put out prior to the desine being fully complete. Raul is not alone in his commentary (I am not referring to any specific tonearm manufactu...

I am using the Etymotic ER4-P earphones with my IPOD. The midrange is excellent & the highs are very clear. I was using the Grado SR80 headphones. They also sounded great but are bigger to carry around. Also the Grados didn't play as loud as t...
Avalon: are new models quite better than older ?
I am refering to memory of a long time ago after hearing the Ascents at one dealer in CA and the Eidolons at a dealer in NY. I found the dynamics very constricted on the Eidolons & passed on them. I never felt that with the Ascents. They were ...
New EMM LABS transport
I love Snoop Dogy Dog. Great sound quality. Remember an audiophile is in search of perfect sound. We can have fun doing it. You should try playing some Rafi for children on your hifi. Amazing.
Turntable or go into SACD, Simon Yorke vs EMM Lab
I want to thank everyone for their help. I ended up deciding to purchase the Simon Yorke. I will be posting a thread in a few months comparing the Yorke to the Hyperspace. My decision was very complicated. In the end, I felt the Yorke is really a ...

Merlin Room at 2004 HE Show in NY
I have friends who heard the MX & swear it was the best speaker they ever heard. This was with the Berning gear. The vote for best sound at the show with most people was the Von Schwiekert VR4jr. I think I spelled it right. Unbelieveable sound...
The best speaker you ever heard?
No single winnerInfinity IRS Beta driver by Carver Tube amps, I forget the name of the amp, with a turntable for the front end. I don't remember the entire setup, but I think the preamp was a Counterpoint & there was a solid state amp on the b...
SME V vs. SME IV/Vi or Vd
The SME V has a damping trough which makes it more "tuneable". In addition it can be rewired very inexpensively through Incognito or some others. It comes out to be less expensive than the IV.Vi still. The rewire has some specific advantages. Firs...
Tube Headphone Amp. Getting Started.
I use an Antique Sound Lab MG Head OTL w. HD600s. Very inexpensive for great sound. The HD600s never sounded good until I added the headphone amp. I was using before the headphone output of my Placette Preamp. It was very clean, but not alive. The...
