Golden Ear award for $55 speaker tweak
Looks like what many speakr manufacturers have been doing for a while. Wilson Audio is one example

Paul,Thanks.
Koetsu cartridges - myth or reality?
Calculating it & verifying it are 2 different things. Play the test tracks on the HFNRR for vertical & horizontal. It will tell you more. Then you can calculate what your cartridges true compliance is. It often varies.

Thanks Paul & Halcro.Going to order L'Art Du Son today. I wish I got presents of LPs. Unfortunately all my US friends build vinyl collections for free. Paul, is Music Collector free or sharewware? I keep entering everything is a big spreadshee...
Amp's suggestions for B&W Nautilus Prestige?
TomerNice meeting you in the Munich show. Did you get the new version w. the diamond tweeters? I bet they are amazing. It will be a lot of fun and active is the way to go. For the money you might want to try digital amplification for the bass and ...
Loricraft Record Cleaning
I recently received the TW brand Hannl Mera EL. All I can say is that love it. It is semiautomatic in some ways. It uses a higher rotation speed as the default speed for the scrubbing process. It uses the lowest speed for vacuuming. The pump puts ...
Koetsu cartridges - myth or reality?
iSanchez,I would chime in and say that your XV-1s has a higher compliance than a Koetsu. I know that Koetsu's are extremely low. The 507 II matches well with a Koetsu. That might make it too high a mass for a XV-1s. Did you try a test record to ch...
Has anybody listened to WLM speakers?
Heard them in Munich show. Everyone loved them. I heard the smaller ones. For the money they are really nice. Big palpable images which are well placed with nice bass (I think a subwoofer was in use). They used the Almarro amps, but I forget the s...
Soundsmith Straingauge
I heard it at Munich. I would rather make no comments, but it has potential. I was told it was not functioning properly. It did image better than any cartridge I have heard. But, it might be thin sounding. I don't know the system. Then again, it m...
Lamm M2.2 instead Krell EVO 302
I sold my B&Ws for the same reason. You need to play loud to open up the speakers. I switched to Wilsons. The B&Ws play very well but only at loud volumes. I owned 801s w. FPB 600 and then tried w. VTL 750s. Always enough power but poor so...
Power cord upgrades for Krell amps
I use Elrod Statements on my old KRell FPB 600. It was an amazing combo, adding smoothness and extenion and removing the last artifact of solid state. Suffice it to say I felt it placed the Krell in a different class that is still competitive with...
Raven v Walker. Colored v Accurate?
I just checked out the Adjust+. Wow is all I can say. Another expense yet again but this one seems to make sense. Emailist, do you know if a record is provided w. it? I wonder if it is just software or not. I need a good soundcard anyhow for PC Au...
Raven v Walker. Colored v Accurate?
Raul,I agree with you about all you said. But, others who have heard the XV-1s in my system agreed with my assesment. Maybe a system parameter was off, but it was checked thoroughly by me & some experts. On a different note, the XV-1s took a l...
Raven v Walker. Colored v Accurate?
I have owned both. I still own the Universe. Sirspeedy, your description fits my experience exactly. Still not one person here on this forum wants to answer my comment that the variation in compliance of the Universe will create different "ultimat...
Raven v Walker. Colored v Accurate?
Wow. A ZYX Universe souding bloated? Something sounds wrong. That would be the last thing I would say about the Universe. OTOH, the XV-1s should sound bloated but extremely natural. Suffice it to say, I am all confused. The DaVinci should be a gre...
