What is the best 12ax7 NOS tube ?????????
Both is true Eric, they often sound more refinded and they last much longer. (Especially the KT 88)

What is the best 12ax7 NOS tube ?????????
It is indeed a matter of taste, having similar gear to Rcprince, I tend to agree with what he says about the Teles. Mazda France is a nice tube as well, close to the sound of the Teles, warm as well as lively and not so well known, hence cheaper.A...
Sub Crossover vs. External Crossover
Jim gives sound advice. I'd also try to run the main system full spectrum, cut off your sub at the lowest possible x-over point and very carefully add a bit of sub as a third possibility. Reason: ALL X-overs, active or passive, degrade the sound o...
Acapella ion tweeters
Sean, only read about the Ionovac, never heard one alas.Travis, they have a built in amp and Acapella uses them without external amplification. The user has to fine tune the tweeters to the rest of the system which is a cinch. 2.5k would indeed be...

T boneQuestion 1: A clear yes. There is nothing better, more transparent, more dissolving, less coloured.Question 2: Have them for over two years and am still alive and well. They never had ozone problems right from the beginning, it being broken ...
Auctions - why bid early?
Interesting thought, Kinsekd, you may well be right! Cheers,
Auctions - why bid early?
I'm fairly busy on ebay and I have learnt, that bidding early makes no sense whatever to the buyer. I helps the seller though, because it mostly, as Rockvirgo says, raises the final price. I've learnt to hold back and wait, even callously and cold...

Enacoms for bright speakers?
Thes still swing and zing as I found out, though not on Thiels.
Has anyone heard a Gryphon S-100?
If there was a review in Stereophile it must have been in the ninetees, when Gryphon had distribution in the US. I recall, that HP of Tas referred to the 100 favourably, but there was no actual review.
Tubes Do It -- Transistors Don't.
6chac, thanks, don't think I deserve your kind words, there are far better descriptions around here for what we experience, when listening to music. Unsound, yes of course the child wasn't foolish, all I was trying to do, was to poke some fun at a...
Has anyone heard a Gryphon S-100?
Rcprince is right on the money. I am very familiar with the sound of it and it is just as he says. Sculls hatchetjob of it may have had to do with the fact, that HP liked it, although he never really reviewed it. It also throws a very wide and dee...
An unscientific poll: How often are you happy?
Yes, I try to keep ye olde nose above the water...and above the various premier crus......Cheers,
