What was the last CD you bought (Name, and year issued)?
@jgfergus  thanks!! I’ll search for it.
Vintage vs. New, Risk vs. Reward
@jasonbourne52  I agree with you, there is some old equipment that still sounds as good, if not better then some of the new stuff. Restore an old Dynaco or Marantz Tube amp and you'll have some great sound. My AR turntable sounded great until it ...
A Question About Time Alignment
This was a very educational thread. Thanks to all!
Aurender integrated streamer/DACs
My apologies for misunderstanding the question.
Aurender integrated streamer/DACs
I went with an Aurender N200 without the built in DAC. The Aurender’s with the built in DAC sounded fine, but I wanted to be able to change/upgrade DACs over the years as I have done in the past. I have the current PS Audio direct stream DAC, but ...
Vintage vs. New, Risk vs. Reward
I love the looks of “old” equipment, such as the old Marantz receivers. I also love the look of McIntosh, although for the most part they still look the same…but even they have changed the electronics inside. Anyway, I did not buy “old” equipment...
Sublima Chakra tt mat
He didn’t ask for an opinion, he asked for help. Can you help him find one or not? I’ve been looking to replace my mat, I’d be interested in this also.
Mofi Controversy
So you would be OK if a gas station told you it was high octane gas, charged you the high octane price and it was really low octane? I’d bet you’d be really angry. It’s fraud. It doesn’t matter that you could not tell the difference, it’s fraud. I...
Luxman 509x vs Hegel H390
Those are two great sounding amps. I went with Luxman, but only because the Luxman had some added features I liked that the Hegel did not have. Sound-wise? The Hegel might have an edge on controlling/powering full range floor standers, due to the ...
Another one (server) bites the dust!
@budburma  It's a nice match for my pure Class A amp and Harbeth speakers, which is clearly a warm setup. Never gets muddy nor too sharp, always clear and warm to me. But both Aurenders are very dependent on the sound of the DAC you have or choos...
Another one (server) bites the dust!
I also had a vault and upgraded to Aurender. I purchased the N200 over the N10, I felt the N200 had some valuable upgrades done to it and the N10 has now been out for a while. I also loved the fact that I could put my own two drives in. That said...
Is there such a thing as a FOREVER DAC/streamer?
One opinion here - No. There is always something to improve and advance the state of the art. I purchased a five year old DAC that was rated A+ at the time. Now it's not even in the competition. I think it's great, but will probably upgrade in ano...
Weird and funny songs
So many from Monty Python. But the ones I'd recommend are 'Every Sperm is Sacred" , "The Lumberjack Song", "Sit on my Face and the "Always look on the Bright Side of Live.... Funny with a hint of truisms.
ATC SCM40s- would you get subs?
My speakers go down to 35 and I still added a sub, it made a big difference. As for set up properly, It's simple, when the sub works/sounds/blends seamlessly with your main speakers, it's as if you don't even have a sub. I myself got a JL Audio su...
Demagnetize CDs
Gillette foamy works great, but you need to use the three bladed razors, the two bladed ones leave stubble.
