The greatest tweak ever? I now plan to create a perfect vacuum in my listening room. That should solve the problem....other then having to wear a scuba mask and have a tank of air to breathe of course....also in space, no one can hear you scream.....or play music....
Bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf (Sad) I would have recommended Harbeth, I have them on a bookshelf, but they are not a good match with McIntosh (no hate there, I had that setup and it was not a good match). And if you liked the sound of your B&W's, you probably won't like the Harb...
Speakers need to be placed close to back wall. Help I had the same problem and choose Harbeth's. They have a port in the front, whereas most speakers have ports in the rear of the speakers making the bass muddy when close to a back wall. You can find used (and new) ones easily for your price range ...
Upgrading I myself did speakers first, IC next, Power cords last. In theory, Power cords should be first, IC next, speakers last, but felt my power conditioner did good enough job. I also felt that if the cords after the power cords were not up to snuff, th...
? progress I owned Hafler stuff in the 80's-early 90's. My first real 'high-end system". Nice sounding stuff back then, not so much compared to what you can buy today, especially if it hasn't been checked for decaying electrical parts. If you own it, keep it...

Can you vote on this song, 1 being brilliant, 5 being crap Movie soundtrack, something you'd find in a Hallmark movie, so a 3. I would only listen to it once as a classical piece, so a 4-5 for that. Sorry if I offended anyone, just an opinion.
Has this happened to you? How can it be stopped? I have to keep telling myself I do NOT need to re-buy my old equipment. Such as my first system, a Marantz 2035, Advent speakers, Pioneer TT with Shure cartridge. Or my second one, a Hafler pre and amp, or my Nak tape deck (especially considering ...
Deciding Between the Marantz Model 30 and McIntosh MA252 Just an opinion as I have owned McIntosh and Marantz equipment, but I am not familiar with your speakers. If your speakers are more a more "forward" or "bright", i.e. the speakers tend toward the highs rather then the lows, the McIntosh would be a...
Deciding Between the Marantz Model 30 and McIntosh MA252 What kind of speakers do you have? @oddiofyl is correct, they have a very different sound profiles.
