Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage and Single Ended Triod
Hi Onemug, I see what you are saying about the level required for the 10th ofa watt. However, I am not so sure that on bass transients etc. that the speakerdoesn't draw more juice ( Possibly a lot more). Currently, I use a 250 watt/ch amp and amaz...
Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage and Single Ended Triod
Onemug, please tell us what amps you are referring to when you say 'a couple of300 b SET's'?Are you using one 300b amp per channel? Not sure what you mean.In my very small room, I listen at low volume levels generally anyway, somaybe a 300b might ...
What cables to replace Highwire's with?
Thanks for the Skywire suggestion. I think that they may be a little toolike what I already have. I would like to see if there are any cables that aretruly a BIG step-up from the Highwire's. Thinking maybe Kubala'sor Siltech or? Haven't heard thes...
Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage and Single Ended Triod
Hi Rchan,I would be interested in the Jadis 300b amps and probablythe Air Tight 845's ( single ended but not 300B's) and the Air Tight 300's.Like you say the Wavac's and the Cary's are contenders as well. BUT, likeI said, I doubt any of them would...
Speakers this way, or that, with cathedral ceiling
Hodu, I am currently using a room that is very small (10X11) and with avault ceiling going up to 15ft. The speakers sound best firing towards the high point of the room. I agree with the other posters who say that otherwiseyou would be creating a ...
Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage and Single Ended Triod
Hi Rchan, I would be interested in this answer as well. However, i seriously doubt that any 300 B amp could drive the fairly inefficient GH's.The GH's like a minimum of 50 watts/ch and come alive with 200+ watts/chIMHO. Which 300B amp are you cons...
What's your favorite MFSL
Another one that no one has mentioned is Getz/Gilberto. Listened to it today and it's also special.
New Guarneri Memento vs. Old Guarneri Homage
At0310t, not sure what Milimetr feels about this, but IMHO the main concern that one has when buying older speakers is to make sure that the driver surrounds are not dried out. Also, to check that the speakers haven't been overdriven, thereby dama...
New Guarneri Memento vs. Old Guarneri Homage
Semi, what equipment were you using with the GH's and the Amati's?You say GH's were' closed in', this is odd as the GH's are essentially small monitors and their imaging abilities are well known and are one of their substantial strengths ( Frankly...
New Guarneri Memento vs. Old Guarneri Homage
Semi, while I certainly believe that you are entitled to your opinion, I disagree with what you have said. From what I can tell from your prior threads, you once owned the Amati's and now own the Aerial 20t's. In one of your prior posts you actual...
New Guarneri Memento vs. Old Guarneri Homage
Never fear Pinkus, I'm here..:0)I have been reading this thread with great interest. Basically, I completely agree with Milimetr's review. Frankly, the only thing I would add is that IMHO neither speaker is a bass champ. The Mementos do dip a litt...
The mighty CAT preamp
All jokes aside, I still would like to get some opinions from other 'Gon'erswho have moved away from the CAT and also from those who have heard the Renaissance.
The mighty CAT preamp
Tpreaves, was that an upgrade? Sounds like a lateral move to me..:0)
The mighty CAT preamp
That's very interesting Spectron. I personally have not had to re-tube that often, in fact I have had my current tube set about two years and all still seems fine. I do agree that at certain gain levels the CAT is not dead quiet, some slight tube ...
Questions for Sonus Faber owners
Rubinken, That is interesting, however, I am more concerned about how to replace the strings if necessary and not to pull them tighter. I suspect that as they age, pulling the strings tighter will not be an option as theirelasticity will fail and ...
