Sonus Faber Guarneri vs Guarneri Memento
Pinkus on another thread you wrote and I quote"Of course it is also possible that I am highly suggestible, and I am the one with the tin-ear."I think that may speak for itself..:0)BUT in all seriousness, I do agree that 'each to their own' is appl...
Sonus Faber Guarneri vs Guarneri Memento
Flg2001, i think a little salt in this thread is a good idea..It doesn't really surprise me that there are many GH owners in Italy,or anywhere else for that matter, that are "reluctant" to give up theirGH's for GM's. A backward step is never anyth...
Sonus Faber Guarneri vs Guarneri Memento
Hi George, I heard a Jadis Defy 7 mk1V a couple of years ago withSF GH"s. It was a very nice match indeed; almost made me sell myJeff Rowland model 8. The only thing that kept me from doing that wasthat the Jadis seemed to lose a little detail whe...
Review: Nordost Red Dawn Interconnect
While I have no experience with the Red Dawn IC's, I recently placed the speakercables into my system and I think they are a great cable. One night myself and several other 'philes 'AB'ed the RD v11's vs Blue Heaven and everyone thought that the B...
Recommend me a DAC for 300
Try an EAD 7000Mk3 if you can find one, a little more than $300- used, BUT IMHO very hard to beat under $1500-!
Amp for Sonus Faber Cremona - old model
Fundsgon, you might want to see if you can locate an ARC D-70. You can see in my review of this amp in the amp review section how impressed I am with this ARC and my SF's. YMMV.
Review: Audio Research D-70 mkII Tube amp
Hi Fernando,I too was a little surprised that this amp can sound as good as it does. However,I had known from other 'phile friends that this amp was one of the true 'sweet spots' in the ARC line in the last 25+ years. I think it also says a lot th...
Review: Sonus Faber Guarnieri Homage Speaker
After about 100 hrs with the ARC in the system, I think this pairing seems to be the SF's liking. The SF's are singing like never before, my 'phile friends are now anxiously looking for a D-70Mk2 on the 'Gon market!!!!One is even going to replace ...
Personal amp evolution
Started with HK 500 A modded as a pre-amp and a Hafler DH220then a Melos 90 st to a Jeff Rowland model 8 with choke and nowhave added an ARC d-70 mk2 as a tube alternative along with the Jeff Rowland.
Buy tubes from Audio Research or not
I just re-tubed my ARC D-70 Mk2 and I bought a matched quad set of winged C 6550's from Antique Electronic Supply. I also bought NOS GE 6FQ7's and JJ 6922 from them as well. I installed the tubes( probably easier to do than on a VT100mk111) and ha...
Jeff Rowland 8T with Wilson Sasha w/p?
Aldenberry, the 8T is IMHO still among the best available ss amps out there.I use a 8 with choke and top plate mod and I have AB'ed it against BAT, Edge, Mod Wright, Naim, Krell and Levinson ss amps and it has bested all in my system. The 8T should...
disappointing VPI 16.5 performance??
Ethan, you may want to look into a product called Gruv Glide... it's a spray on lubricant type product and may/should help with some of the surface noise.Generally, I have had good results with this when a LP seems fairly unlistenableafter a VPI w...

Review: Sonus Faber Guarnieri Homage Speaker
Well the tube amp I have added to the mix is a Audio Research D70 Mk2. The amp is 65 watts per channel and is from the classic ARC tube era.I am re-tubing it with SED 6550's and NOS GE 6FQ7's. Once up and running I will report back...
Speaker cabinet made of real wood
My Sonus Faber Guarneri Hommage's are IMHO the way a good wood speaker should be made. Not done that much these days, probably too time consuming and expensive.
