SACD Player--Do you use it and feel you'd replace it if it broke? I just upgraded my digital system to an Esoteric DV60. Sounds sublime on redbook and SACD. One thing I considered is whether the transport/sled can be replaced in the event of failure. The Esoteric offers this benefit; unfortunately the older Mara...
Blood On The Tracks MoFi UD1S @hdm I think with the 'One Steps' it is a good idea to be somewhat cognizant of what the original master recording sounds like before placing an order. For example, what you stated about the Gaye release is to be somewhat expected based on what t...
LP12- Power Supply- Need education @phoenixengr That is also correct. There is an optical reader that mounts under the platter and reads a mark on the platter every revolution.
MORE Esoteric problems I recently bought a DV60, I was told by TAP that the sled and the transport are still available. I may look into buying a spare of these parts.
LP12- Power Supply- Need education @phoenixengr I believe in the Linn Radikal upgrade the motor is a brushed DC design.
LP12- Power Supply- Need education Ivor T used to believe that AC motors were the only way to go, that changed with the introduction of the Radikal...and its DC motor. ( Linn was never supposed to be interested in digital either...that also seems to have changed over the years.) No...
LP12- Power Supply- Need education @mijostyn, Since you just posted that the last time you owned an LP12 was in 1980...I think that tells us all we need to know. “There is no way to set up a LP12 correctly”...i’m sure back in 1980 that was your experience. LMAO.”I have not playe...
LP12- Power Supply- Need education @msnpassion. The LP12 Klimax...in its full guise consists of the Radikal Klimax motor controller, a Urika 2 phono stage...which is mounted on the Trampolin 2 base, the Keel sub-chassis and the latest corner reenforced plinth, the Cirkus bearing,th...
Equipment Rack Between Speakers...Good or Bad Depends on the size of the room. Ideally, like others have said, if you have enough room ( this is the crucial aspect) then having the rack out of the plane of the speakers and at the side is best. OTOH, IF your room is too small, like mine, then ...
LP12- Power Supply- Need education @mijostyn You say you lived with an LP12 for 10 years...when was that?...thirty years ago!! Funny thing, I used to own a SOTA Sapphire, liked it for the time, but sold it and replaced it with a VPI 19, which killed it...then i sold the VPI when i...
LP12- Power Supply- Need education @saburo +1There is, as usual, a ton of misinformation and pure 'BS' being foisted by those who really have absolutely no clue about the sound of a well set up Linn LP12. I love this from mijostyn...'listen to a Linn platter, you will be able to ...
LP12- Power Supply- Need education Like someone posted above, if you have a chance to hear the various power supplies that Linn has available for their LP12, I am fairly sure you will easily hear the difference each makes. The top of the line Radikal D is not just a power supply up...
Cartridges that get strings right? While I agree with everything that has been posted so far, there is another variable to getting the sound of strings correct. Nobody has mentioned the quality of the phono stage. Many phono stages are not that compatible or resolving enough to get...
Does it come down to the mastering quality only?? @folkfreak Some of the oldest recordings are indeed superb. i don't think that they are actually a good representative of a marginal or poor recording, generally. Main reason that I think some of the older recordings are superb, is because they ...
Does it come down to the mastering quality only?? I am no fan of digitally recorded vinyl reissues; with the possible exception of the MFSL Box set Allison Kraus + Union Station Live.I think it is a safer bet to get the download or the SACD of a digital recording. |
