The best speaker for a small room...at any price point. @keithr Unfortunately, i wasn’t that impressed with anything at the show (particularly suitable for a small room). The Magico M2’s were ok, but I suspect too difficult to drive with the kind of amps I prefer.
The best speaker for a small room...at any price point. @firsnot. In the area that I live, a speaker, basically any speaker, is a mere fraction of the price of the room. Therefore, the budget for a speaker (any speaker) that would work in a small room is nothing compared to what a large room will cost ...
The best speaker for a small room...at any price point. @yyzsantabarbara I am also in S.Calif, so listening to the Vimburg's isn't an option yet either. The TAD's would seem to be an option, but also difficult to source for a listen. Plus, I am not sure i would cotton to the hard beryllium tweeter! ...
The best speaker for a small room...at any price point. @yyzsantabarbara They do look interesting, has anyone heard these? Their small floor stander may also be a candidate.
How far have ss amps really come in the last twenty years? @larrykell I think there are a number of very competent ss amps from that period that present a good (great?) value today, among them are the fore mentioned Rowland amps, several from Mark Levinson, Symphonic line, Pass labs, the Coda amps and a f...
How far have ss amps really come in the last twenty years? @larrykell I think a ss amp from the 70’s is a very different animal from one dating back twenty years! There did seem to be some major improvements made between the seventies and the turn of the century in this area. Therefore, it doesn’t surpris...
How far have ss amps really come in the last twenty years? @ttbolad You like Class D and are here to tell us that it is the next coming, LOL.Everyone has to agree with you...otherwise they have a liking of ’euphonic concoctions’...SERIOUSLY!! LMAO!!I guess you have never heard of the phrase.... IN MY HU...
Black Cat Cable's/Coppertone wires are amazing good! I have heard the Coppertone cables, they are as everyone is saying...superb cables at very reasonable prices. There are a couple of rave reviews here: http://fairhedon.com/2019/01/16/black-cat-cable-coppertone-interconnects-and-speaker-cable%EF%BB%BF/
Answer me this... @millercarbon. Regardless of the stamper, if the recording isn’t that great to begin with...ie the master tape is poor, or the recording engineer screwed up somehow, then the SQ is going to suffer, IME.
Answer me this... @cleeds Interesting that you think that there are good sounding pressings of BOTW, I have never heard one. I think I must have heard this LP on numerous occasions with different gear and different pressings, none to my ears was anything but a ma...
New level of ridiculousness @racamuti I told your story to a close find of mine...he immediately stated that there are innumerable numbers of poor folk in China who could have greatly benefited from even a very small fraction of the money that the boys in your example lost....
New level of ridiculousness @racamuti What does your story tells us?
New level of ridiculousness I'm eagerly awaiting the day when we see $1million power strips and $5Million power cords. Better still, $50 Million speaker cables and ic's. After all, at some point there still has to be at least one guy who thinks those prices are no big deal.....
I went to THE show and didn't make any friends ... @erik_squires Funny how, like Keith R stated, ears are different! IMO, the Vandy room was a total loser. No definition in the highs, wooly and out of control bass that sounded like nothing that I recognize as accurate bass reproduction- and imag...
