Any benefits playing SACD's on Standard CD Player?
MetrallaSorry for the misunderstanding yeah I probably wouldn't either. I believe one is a Rachel Podger disc and the other escapes me. It was a simple observation that all of us seemed to hear. Chuck

Nope, not just louder but more dynamic better resolution more micro detail. Besides it is only an observation and what difference does it make if it is a hybrid disc and contains a redbook layer it will play on any player.Chuck

I have noticed along with my wife and daughter that the redbook layer on the hybrid disc sounds better more full in their words than the redbook only disc. This at least has been the case on the discs where I have both discs. I can not say that it...
Help CDP over vinyl upgrade advice please
SpiroNo offense taken. I was simply making a comment and I realize your comment was a generalization and not pointed at me specically. I have yet to hear great vinyl and it is a little (alot) frustrating when everyone talks about how great it is. ...
Help CDP over vinyl upgrade advice please
Well I guess I can't hear but thats OK because as long as I am happy with the sound of my system thats all that matters.Chuck
CD problem with transport. Please help
Well of course it will get worse with continued use. If something is binding and putting excess load on the motor eventually it is going to fail which is why it needs to be addressed now rather than later. It is not going to heal itself.Chuck

Your only option is to buy something used like maybe a Sony scd777es and have it modded and even then you will be at twice your budget. Otherwise forget it in your price range it doesn't exist. Stay where you are. I have the opposite dilema I have...
CD problem with transport. Please help
Audphile1 makes a good point about dusting of the lens while you are in there but lubricating the rails, if indeed this player has them, will not cause oil to fling around inside the player when the disc spins. By design this is impossible. The se...
Tube pre-amps $3500 under to add "warmth"
I would add conrad johnson to your list. Not sure whether or not they are warm sounding but they are certainly very musical.Chuck
CD problem with transport. Please help
I am not familiar with your players transport but if it is anything like my scd-1 then lubing the spindle motor guide rails (steel) as well as grease the gear mechanism (steel & plastic) is a possible solution. For oil I would use small electr...
AudioQuest Bedrock speaker cable: Opinions?
I have used it in the past and it was a good cable for the money well balanced and dynamic. It was my first foray into higher end cabling.
Can you imagine a world without vinyl?
Well I guess I will chime in. I have had the pleasure to hear a few very good vinyl rigs but none was good enough to my ears to convince me to buy a turntable. My 150+ albums will remain in storage. But to those who love it fantastic I am happy fo...
SS vs Tube Preamps
Either way works I use a tube pre with a ss amp with great results. Impedence matching is important but beyond that no issues.Chuck
Sim audio W-5 vs CJ 2500A
I can not comment on the Sim Audio (sorry) but the 2500A is very tube like in its presentation very beautiful and detailed mid range with very good high and bottom end extension and overall very smooth. I used to have a 2500A paired with my premie...
Amp for Thiel CS1.5?
UnsoundThe point of my comment, and I apologize for not saying this earlier, is that one should be more concerned about sound quality and system synergy. Obviously the number of watts required is a function of room size and acoustics as well as th...
