Kathy Mattea's "Good News" has always been one of my favoites.
When will your system be enough?
This is my hobby (at least one of them). If I was to become satisfied i would have to find a new hobby and I really don't have the energy. So I just keep tweaking.
Cary SLI 80 with B&W 703 will it be a good match?
As a owner of the SLI-80 I would be hesitant to recommend it with your speakers. It will drive them, but at 88db/4ohms its not an optimal pairing. Most like the Cary best in its 40 watt triode mode and my guess you would need to run the Cary in th...
Why are LCDs more popular than plasma?
I think Onhwy61 nailed it. LCD's are simply better in most rooms because most LCD's are non-reflective and, because of this, most stores will push the average joe toward LCD because it will work better in the average room. LCD displays are much be...
Speaker Recomendations $3000
I recently auditioned the VA Beethovens and the Audio Physics Tempo (below the Virgo) and I preferred the Tempo, although the Beethoven's were very good. The Tempo's were sightly more open with great bass response. I will say that I preferred the ...
$5k budget tube system
The Cary SLI80 is a great unit to build around. I would delete the power cords and the ultimate outlet and put half that $1000 into upgrading the tubes in the SLI80. Upgraded tubes will greatly outweigh the benefit of power cords with that amp. Th...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
A lot of people love music, but simply do not listen critically to the quality of the playback. As audiophiles, we require the best quality playback - within our budgets - to enhance our enjoyment of the music and assembling our playback equipment...
Which HT reveiver to replace Nak av-10?
The new higher end Onkyo and Denon AVR's have all the bells and whistles, support all advanced audio codecs and have lots of inputs. I have the new Onkyo 805, which can be had within your budget. You should go to AVSforum.com where there's lots of...
Benchmark DAC1 using Toslink input
I'm interested in this DAC as well for the same purpose. For those who have the USB version, what's the comparision between the USB out and the toslink output? I presume from a notebook, the usb should be better?
Denon's new Blu-Ray player
Agreed. As above, you can get into both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray for less than the cost of what most 'goners pay for a good power cord.
Denon's new Blu-Ray player
I own players of both formats, so if one format fails I'm still covered and in the interim I'm enjoying ALL of hte great HD movies that are available. Let me tell you, the difference in HD and SD dvds is incredible. The diffence is much more signf...
Most Influential American Musician of All Time?
Bill Monroe - perhaps the only undisputed creator of a genre of music and who is in the bluegrass, country and rock n roll halls of fame. Honorable mentions - Jimmie Rodgers and Les Paul.
I'm looking for a big new LCD or projection type
Yeah, well I love my Samsung :). Just kidding, but I think the bigger choice here is the choice between LCD and DLP. Off axis viewing of DLP is unacceptable to me.
I'm looking for a big new LCD or projection type
IMHO, unless you're viewing from the sweet spot (i.e. directly in front of the tv) all the time, I would go with one of the LCD's.
What song best describes you or your life?
