Receiver with Audyssey
Another vote for Onkyo. I am very happy with the 805. The Denons are nice too, but i believe you can find better deals on Onkyo.
Brother, can you spare some time for HT advice?
I have a very similar set up. I have the Samsung 4661, Panny BD30 and Onkyo 805 (see my HT system). I'm very happy with the set up. I'm not familiar with the Denon you reference, but if you go that route, make sure it will decode advanced audio si...
More shipping damage again?
I would never use a UPS store as they are flatout incompetent. They assume that a big enough box and lots of peanuts done by their minimum wage employees means "professionally packed." I believe that's an overly broad statement. The UPS Store I u...
More shipping damage again?
I have an account at a local UPS Store and they recommend shipping anything of value or fragile via overnight and/or 2nd day rather than regular ground for the simple reason that a regular ground package is handled and loaded/unloaded, etc. much m...
Ideal speakers for Cary SLI-80?
I use the Merlin TSM-MMe's with mine and love them. I've also used the Tyler Acoustic Taylo monitors with great success. I actually prefer the amps 80w ultralinear mode. Be sure to experiment with both. Given the specs of the Salks, I would concur...
Any new reviews on the Oppo 983?
At $400 you're getting into Blu-ray territory. Just a thought.
Very Compact Subwoofer
Martin Logan Dynamo is a great little sub.
Equipment: To Hide or not to Hide
As you can see from my systems, I like the hybrid approach. When in use all my equipment is visible, when not in use its closed up in a cabinet. I use this approach because my setups are in general living spaces. I often have guests with kids, etc...
Squeezebox 3 RCA jacks too big for hifi cable?
At the risk of stating the obvious, do the cables you're using have locking connectors? You may just need to loosen the connector by turning it to the open position (counter-clockwise on my AZ's), then push it onto the RCA and then tighten the con...
Squeezebox and Music Vault NAS
I looked into this unit, but for $900 with 500GB, you could get a cheap laptop and hang a external HD of it and get the added benefit of a multi-use machine. I guess this is what I was trying to avoid, i.e having to turn on the computer to listen...
Squeezebox and Music Vault NAS
Thanks, I've just started researching the options and I guess I have a lot to learn. Thanks for the feedback.
Top 5 recievers of the 70's and 80's ????
There were a bunch of good receivers in the 70's and 80's. Let see there was Rice, Branch, Irvin, Swan, Stallworth, Belitnikoff, Clayton, Monk, Largent, Joyner - just to name a few.
CD Players with digital "in" capabilities
I'm running a squeezebox into a Resolution Audio Opus 21 with great results.
Question for Jolida JD100 owners
As popular as this player has been for several years, its hard to imagine the output impedence is an issue.
Shelby Lynne
I'm a big Shelby Lynne (and Allison Moorer) fan, but the jury's still out for me on this one. Perhaps its because the sparse arrangements are such a departure from her prior works. The CD sounds very good and I still listening, but as of now i bel...
