why expensive streamers
grislybutter I don’t imagine anything. Here is the spotify algorithm ... Don’t be silly. Spotify is a compressed, lossy service. As I mentioned, services such as Qobuz and Tidal are lossless, and use TCP/IP protocol to send bit perfect copies...
why expensive streamers
grislybutter Playing via streaming (putting packages together as they come in vs having it all at the door) is different because of their algorithms for how to cut corners - to deal with missing/delayed packets .. What algorithms do you imagin...
Audio Research versus McIntosh tube amps: anyone experience or compare both?
ARC and Mac amplifiers have completely different sounds. You need to hear them for yourself.
why expensive streamers
carlsbad2 ... Streaming can't use the error checking protocols that achieve bitperfect file transfer. Thus, dropped bits and the streamer's attempts to deal with it ... That is not true. Services such as Qobuz and Tidal use TCP/IP, which i...
why expensive streamers
carlsbad2 The error correction people keep mentioning is generally not the correct term. For file transfer, there is data correction available. It will go back to the source and get the correct data. For streaming, there is not data correction, ...
why expensive streamers
grislybutter I would have thought when analog is converted to digital and it becomes a stream, timing is encoded in the stream, the 0s and 1s. There is no layers of data, such as content and "pace" or whatever timing means, it's all one line...

grislybutter ... every time I go to a nearby dealer, they point to the "No Loitering" sign and lock the door ... You must have treated him very badly. I can only hope you learned from the experience.
why expensive streamers
grislybutter I just don't get the $1,000 vs $20,000 streamer argument.  Have you tried listening for yourself, perhaps at a dealer who's willing to demo?
Resolving Hum with Battery Back-up (EcoFlow) vs Power Conditioners: success vs failure
maxdukecapone Many high-end audio will have a model where they use a battery to clean up power. There are? Aurender and Esoteric come to mind. Those are usually the top models, too. Usually the battery's sole purpose is to ensure an orderl...
ultrasound record cleaning machine damaged my records
mswale You are more likely to damage a record with manual cleaning than the ultrasonic machine. That's very likely true, but in this case we don't know much about the machine he's using. Perhaps he's rigged a commercial machine intended fo...

lewm Cleeds, I drive a well known German automobile. Can you name it with any certainty? No. Of course not. That’s my point. I don’t understand the coy secrecy here. dwcda I’m guessing based on the specs it’s a Humminguru. Of course e...
Looking For Technicans That Would Rewire A SME V
pindac It would help if the OP was given a guestimate of the time the Tonearm was with the service doing the work. A very expensive to replace Tonearm out in the world of the Cottage Industries can be a worrying experience, make that period ext...

antinn The machine @pfmaudio is using based on the power, kHz and volume is a well-known unit (he has decided not to disclose the OEM ... That doesn’t make sense. Something cannot be "well known" and undisclosed at the same time.

I think Steve at VAS would be willing to use any wire or connector that you prefer. He and Ray are great guys - you might want to give 'em a call.

I’ve used the Klaudio US cleaner without issue for years. It sounds as if the OP problems may be from using some US cleaner that’s been adapted from another purpose. He’s being a bit secretive, so it’s impossible to know for sure.
