Speed Control for Basis 2800 Signature
The speed should not be way off without an outboard controller. Contact Basis and they will assist you. The company is very serious about customer service. Good luck. Just as a PS, I know that people have used the Walker controller successfully wi...
What would you do?
OK, then you know that you don't want to be a defendant in a lawsuit if at all possible. Maybe I'm a bit more risk adverse than you are. Getting sued sucks. They don't teach that in law school.
What would you do?
Spoken like a true non-lawyer. Truth is a defense you can use after you get sued. The idea is not to get sued in the first place. It's not what you don't know that hurts you - it's what you think you do know. Be careful. It's a dangerous world.
What would you do?
Personally, I think that making an accusation like that could open you up to a slander lawsuit. Once you get sued, it doesn't matter who is right or wrong. You will still have to defend yourself, which is a pain. And then what if you lose and you ...
Why not speakon?
Most equipment is designed for the desires of the marketplace and audiophiles want the ability to endlessly screw around with different types of connections in lieu of actually listening to music. The marketplace won't tolerate being limited to on...
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
There are certainly some people who buy expensive cable for the reasons you state, but others who can actually hear what they're buying and are confident in their ability to assess the benefits the cable brings to the system and that the cost is a...
RIP Corey Wells
That sucks. I saw TDN at the Felt Forum and the Garden and they were incredible. That band was one of the best backing groups I've ever heard to this day. They were so big back then that their opening act was Stevie Wonder. Shame.
Parasound A21 or Odyssey Stratus
Get something with tone controls or a sub. It's not always audiophile approved, but you will be happier with the sound.
Your last concert was to see who and when?
Saw the NY Phil at Lincoln Center two weeks ago. The band was quite good, but the sound at Geffen Hall is shameful, IMO. No resonance, no bottom. Very, very flat. Supposedly, they're redoing it - again. Carnegie is far better. Of course, where you...
LS50 and Big Fat Dots
I don't think you can predict how different footers will affect the sound of a speaker. There are just too many variables involved. However, Herbies offer a money-back guarantee on everything, so you're at minimal risk.
Anyone heard the E.A.R. "Acute"?
I always liked my Acute with the original JJs, but I bought a pair of 6DJ8 Amperex Bugle Boys from Andy at Vintage Tube Services in 2012 and they sound just great, IMO. Full-bodied, detailed, not harsh. I've seen no reason to fool around with othe...
It's October I want to hear horror stories about equipment.
Mapman - I think you may have set the record for reviving this 14 year old thread. Congrats.
Tone arm upgrade
I agree with those who say change the cartridge. Put a Lyra Dorian in there and you will be amazed at the difference. If you want to spend less, I recommend a Goldring Eroica. Very good cart for under a grand. That being said, I upgraded from a Re...
Experience with Novum PMR Mk 2 bronze resonator?
Old thread
Wacky Question about cartridges
BTW- Lemmy, if you're that interested in reliving the past, which is totally cool, why not just get another Oracle? They're still made and they are very nice. I'm not going to do it, but I wouldn't mind owning a 1970 Chevelle SS or GTO.
