Repair Linn turntable vs buying a different one
If you like your linn, all I would do is replace the cartridge and get a new set of springs and get the table up and running.  After that you can research the newer upgrades and decide what you want to do, if anything.  Those old Linn/Ittok combos...
HC Power cords for tight spaces -- unicorn hunting?
The Audience AU24 cable is quite flexible and Audience can terminate it with any connector you like - meaning straight or right-angle.
Oppo exploring additional production of UDP 205
Nice that they're doing another run.  Just a note to new owners - As SnapSC noted, the 205 does run what I would consider to be somewhat unusually warm for a SS player, but runs significantly cooler in the Pure mode.  Just press the little P butto...

On Line Audio Mail Order Retailers
I think most of the online retailers who sell high-end stuff have people who can give you support when you need it.  It's kind of strange though - Most of these online companies charge full list for their products.  When I go to a brick and mortar...
What makes a speaker sound great at low volume?
Yes - look for a speaker that sounds good at low volumes. I’m not being sarcastic. One of the many mistakes I found that people make is doing demos at loud volumes and then deadening their ears. I think ears react to sound like pupils to light. If...
Static electricity pulled the rubber mat right off the Turntable!
It's good that you're open minded about GG.  I've used it on brand new records before I had a RCM and I thought it worked well,  Just follow the directions and don't use too much, but don't use too little either or you will end up charging the rec...
Static electricity pulled the rubber mat right off the Turntable!
If you have a static issue, Gruv Glide will totally cure it.  Period.  I'm not saying it sounds better, it will NEVER hurt your records or any other things that make people start lining up like Gangs of NY.  IMO, based on years of use, at least in...
The Future of HiFI?
Originally I was thinking that a pre-requisite to buying these things had to be a person who was interested in actually listening to music, but then I thought that anyone interested in music would want something better.  Now I'm thinking that it's...
Speakers on speaker stands-isolation ideas?
I know we're talking sound here, but I have to again mention safety.  A painter knocked over one of my Opera Callas monitors held to the stand with Blu-Tak.  I was able to grab the unit by the speaker and the stand and speaker stayed together as o...
Hear the sound or listen to the music
Please explain again how sheep's bladders can be used to prevent earthquakes.
Recommended cork platter for my SL 1200 GR Technics TT
Hate to say it, but I agree with the Gruv-Glide idea.  In the past, I've had huge problems with static and GG totally eliminated it.  If you apply it properly, it leave minimal residue, which is removed by the stylus after a play or two.  Now I do...
Speakers on speaker stands-isolation ideas?
IMO, you are approaching this the wrong way by assuming "isolation" as you call it, will yield a sound that is more preferable to you.  I'm a big fan of standmounts and I have consistently found that each speaker requires something different to ad...
some one tell me.........
I don’t think the analog output is very high on Oppo stuff. My 205 when set to full has significantly less output than my EAR set at about 2/3 full volume. I don’t think it matters. And if it is shutting down, it sounds like you might have some ty...
The Difficulties in Component "Shootouts"
@dgarretson - Yeah, I let them warm up for at least an hour, but that's not really my point.  The Oppo is not fully broken in, so I'm expecting the low-level detail to improve.  But my point was not to illustrate which was better, but to discuss t...
