salesperson recomends what do you think
It's good that you're taking the opportunity to listen for yourself, rather than buying based on reviews or other opinions of personal preference. If possible, I suggest you burn one CD with about 10 tunes in the genres of music you prefer, so you...
Whats the ultimate 300b or 211 set amp 36watts rm
I'm convinced.
LP12 upgrades
Linn is a world unto itself. I suggest you post your questions on the Linn Forum, as they love to chat endlessly about stuff like that. IMO, the Linn can be a really nice table IF you have someone really good to do the setup and upgrades for you. ...
Speaker placement for brightness control.
Why don't you try a single-driver Fostex speaker? Many companies make them. Removing the tweeter might help your situation considerably. They work best with simpler acoustic music, which may or may not suit your taste, but that's another story. I ...
What should I do
Headphones aside, I totally understand your predicament of apartment living and maybe I can offer a suggestion. If you listen to rock this may be out, but I've spent a lot of time collecting music I can listen to late at night at low volumes - sol...
What should I do
While I'm not sure about the smaller Harbeth idea, Rhljazz makes an excellent point about headphones. It seems the people who like them are addicted, but if you're really not much of a headphone listener, don't assume that you're just going to buy...
What should I do
I am an ex-Harbeth owner myself and I would recommend you take a listen to the Grado GS-1000i phones. I basically consider myself a headphone hater and I much prefer listening to speakers in a real space. To me, whatever frequency-based or alleged...
New cartridge for Rega P3-24
Check out the Goldring Eroica High-Output MC. Very nice cart for the money, a good fit for the Rega and a big step up, IMO, from the Exact. A bit over budget ($750), but only a little. You might not need a spacer, not that it's a big deal.
Tired of bootleg
I would find it hard to believe that anyone who would know what Nordost or Siltech cables were would believe they were getting genuine cables from China for thirty bucks. I think the world is safe from the clutches of the Chinese cable companies.
If you solicit offers, shouldn't you respond?
Unless you're talking about an item that costs a fortune to ship, offering the asking price less shipping seems very reasonable. Sounds to me like the seller was away for a few days or maybe his computer is down or something like that. Give it a c...
REVIEW: Schiit Bifrost DAC
It's always nice to see someone happy with a purchase choice. Let's revisit this thread in a year and see how everything shakes out. Enjoy.
Gruv Glide - Do you use it?
Doug - of course, to each his own, but I really can't see how the force of a stylus in the grove, which, considering the contact area, is probably measured in tons per square inch, could be "impeded" by anything. Is it possible that the perceived ...
Anyone using Bada 225 amp? Impressions?
I bought the older model to use while my main amp was being repaired. The Bada is a fabulous amp for the money. Powerful, smooth, full-function remote. I really think that if I were assembling a budget system, the Bada would be the hands-down winner.
Gruv Glide - Do you use it?
There are many people who are against putting any type of coating on the record once it is properly cleaned and they are certainly entitled to their preferences. I happen to use GG, but only due to its ability to prevent static buildup, which is a...
Rega phono cart,s that can be used without spacer
I believe the Goldring Eroica might fit without a spacer. BTW, it is a very nice cartridge for the money. Available lo or hi output.
