Linn Sondek LP12 impressions
I have to disagree about the constant tweaking thing. I thought that too before I owned one. Once set up properly, it should maintain it's alignment for years and it shouldn't need anything until you change the cartridge. Even then, it's probably ...
Linn Sondek LP12 impressions
There is so much written on the pros and cons of the Linn that you could spend the next 5 years reading about it. It is without a doubt one of the most polarizing discussions in audio. That said, IMO a used LP12 with an Ittok or Ekos arm is an exc...
Rega Arm mods-is it really woth t it?
I don't think you'll get many votes around here. People are posting on what's the best aftermarket stuff for things that haven't even been delivered yet. It's a total sickness, but we already know that.
Rega Arm mods-is it really woth t it?
I think there should be a law that someone has to actually listen to a component for one year before screwing around with it. I think it would help a lot of people.
Power amp suggestions for Peachtree & Triangle
You need an amp with tone controls like the Cambridge or Marantz so you can add some bass when you turn it down. I don't think a more powerful amp is going to accomplish what you want, but I might be wrong. BTW, tone controls are making a comeback...
blown capacitor in Harbeth speaker - help
You say you hear distortion when playing very low notes - those are small speakers and can only take so much. Reverse the speaker position and see if the other one does the same thing. Also, is it only on one recording or does it happen a lot? Som...
Pictures for an ad
Plus, the carpet looks filthy, like it's full of dogshit stains. I don't think I would buy that player.
Explain Digital Basics to an Analog person
I'm not a digital person either, but if you want something to accomplish most of your goals on a budget, which is what it seems, why not just buy an OPPO for about $1100, which will allow you to play every disc format, and play your computer stuff...

You just got the arm and you really like it. Why don't you enjoy it for a while before you think about anything else?
Which Harbeth Speakers
That's probably true, but it doesn't mean you'll like them better. As I said above, the SHL5s sound bigger and are somewhat more forgiving. So many people around here are worried about "detail" and then end up whining that their systems are too fo...
Which Harbeth Speakers
All excellent for acoustic music. The SHL5's have this wonderful big sound and are very forgiving of the equipment and less-than-perfect source materials. IMO they are much more coherent and open than the C7s. The M30's are very nice, but not as m...
The Worst Performance Ever - Really
I think that back in the 60's many record companies were paranoid about missing the next big thing, so they signed and supported many acts that would never have otherwise survived. And thanks for the kind words Lindifarne.
REVIEW: Ayon 07s cd player
I've always liked the whole top-loader CD thing. There's something organic about putting the CD on the platter and putting the puck on and all. Sort of like putting on a record. The process is part of the enjoyment, IMO. Enjoy your new player and ...
New VPI 3D Arm
I have no experience with this arm, but it surprises me when people pre-order a brand new product from any manufacturer, which is almost sure to have bugs of one type of another. You guys have guts. I like to wait until something has been out in t...
Getting into SACD
I would buy a Doge6 from Pacific Valve. 30-day money back, but you won't return it. There's a reason they virtually never come up for sale.
