Bob Dylan finally makes sense.... The past 20 years has seen the onset of a cultural dark ages. Anyone disputing this simply has not been following the Whitney biennials of the past 20, maybe 40 years. It is obvious that pop/conventional tastes have deteriorated to the level of "d...
Integrateds: Warm sounding SS vs Hybrid The Unison Unico and Pathos are great hybrid integrateds. The SS integrateds that I like is the Audio Analoge.
Dubbing FM onto tape.... Jvcvcrman08: I used to do a lot of that here in NYC where we have some amazing radio programs. However, it is very compressed. I agree about the hi-fi VCR, especially the ones from the early 90's. The problem comes in when you make that digital tr...
Dubbing FM onto tape.... 2 biggest problems: FM compression and tape hiss. No way around the first, the second is mitigated with the right tape stock. Unfortunately, many of the tapes with the best response have more hiss. Maybe try a reel to reel tape recorder like a Revox.
faint precession of sound on vinyl I am just going to go back to what I have done since I was 9: ignoring it.

faint precession of sound on vinyl Shadorne: are you saying this is an intentional effort on the part of engineers?
faint precession of sound on vinyl Sounds like in either case there is nothing I can do about it. I listen to a lot of very quiet music and music with great silent passages, like Webern, Cage, Schoenberg, and Morton Feldman. As passionate as I am about vinyl, this is one area where...
Reality Cables made of? Even if that is where Gregg gets it from the speaker cables are still a tremendous value. His soldering and vampire RCA's make it worth it at that price.
Beloved equipment I really love my Linn LP 12, circa 1991. I know there are better tables, but it has a sound that has grown very dear to me. It is pure comfort.

Still miss ya JG even after all these years Yes Rhyno, me too. I can't really get into most of the stuff after 73, with the exception of the 'Blues for Allah' period. I saw my first dead show in 77, so maybe that's it.Still, 68-73 is my absolute favorite vintage Jerry. These days the only r...
