How can we settle for digital?
My point was less about CDP's, which can be quite great, and was more about digital recording itself and the CD format. I own and listen to many CD's because either they do not exist on vinyl or the CD beats the vinyl (which happens time to time)....
The eternal quandary
Speaker positioning seems to make the problem better, if it won't go away completely. However I always defer to simply listening to the music over the audiophile obsessiveness. Point well taken. I am just as moved in my car by the music as I am wi...

New miles davis cd.... wow
There is a speed differential between the master tape and certain releases. It was a mistake that effected millions of copies. Maybe that's it, or a related issue.
the process is more challenging than the result

Do you really want children around your gear?
Which tube cd player do you like

Man Cave or No?
If I did not have my own room (away from everything) to listen and obsess I would go crazy. I found this out the hard way the first year of my marriage when my wife, 2 cats, and I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment. A nightmare. My very understanding ...
Is it really the system?
This question has been asked many times, and it is a profound one. If you are a 'hobbyist' or 'gear hound' you very well might be a materialist. Music is spiritual, and the matter associated with it (the laws of physics for example) is usurped int...
Name brands that are not so well known are skipped
Tetra speakers! They are magnificent. Lauded by many musicians for their extreme range and sensitivity. Too bad they don't get more attention.
How did we get into this crazy hobby?
This is the best thread I have seen thus far on audiogon. It is great to get the personal history angle.

is getting a tube pre a valid option with ss amp?
You might not know it now, but you will probably inevitably go all tube. With the issues you have already discovered, how could you not? Especially with vinyl!Enjoy
Anyone experienced with Sound Guard?
A tremendous setback. Residue that attracts dust and adds filth to the grooves. Go with Walker and a VPI and leave the rest alone!!!
