Holy Grail of Audio Systems
Audiophanatik, the key word in your post is "hobby". It's not just "purchase and forget about it" if it's a hobby.
Strangest Tweak?
I leave a piece of 11x17 paper atop my power amp when not in use. It keeps the dust from getting into the amp's vent holes and speeds up warmup when I turn it on.There is a better thread about strange audio habits but I couldn't find it. So I post...
Optimal Speaker Placement
The equilateral traingle placement method really works.I was listening to Sade Live and realized that it didn't sound like I was at a live event. Instead I was outside the building listening through the front door.My speakers were about 6 feet apa...
Contact email or phone for Forsell ,
There is a Statement for sale right now on A-gon. Try contacting the dealer for more info.
Which speaker is better
I would consider Verity Parsifal monitors and Merlin TSM's as well.
Has audiophilia changed your music taste?
I think I should explain my sarcasm about break-in. I've been demoing equipment at home. If I return something because I don't like it, the dealer will invariably tell me the component is not broken in yet. Or I haven't listened long enough. So I ...
DH labs q-10?
Audioquest Granite has good bass. 60% off now at Audio Advisor. LATinternational.com wire is same price as DH - may want to compare in home trial.
Low Fi / Mid Fi / High Fi ?
Axiom M22ti and Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 are arguably high end for around $300 but without bass.
vienna acoustics haydn with denon avr3803???
I think Denon sounds sort of dead. A very good match would be Harman Kardon AVR receiver refurbed at www.harmanaudio.com. The silk tweeter should nicely mellow out the peaky HF of the H-K.
Recommend speakers for a strange move
Epos M15, Red Rose has a new $1,200 ribbon / carbon fiber speaker, B&W CDM 7nt. But your room may be too big for these.New Monitor Audio S series and B&W CM6 okay for H-T.
Has audiophilia changed your music taste?
No, and with all due respect, the day I switch to "audiophile" (ie sound not music - chair squeaks, paper shuffling, amp humming, and someone coughing) stuff is the day I sell my system and go back to my mini system.Which by the way sounds almost ...
Does full range guarantee bass?
Rsbeck, try some Mackie HR 624's. These are active 2 ways, bass as you describe. I don't think a passive 2-way can match the tight, deep, bass of an active design.
Tuners and Antennas
I like Radio Shack gold (?) antennae wire. Noticeably better than the stock wire on my Fanfare FMG (?).
