Receptacle outlet, nickel plating, is this a problem? Nickel and rhodium and brass are not as good a conductor as copper and silver. Go with them.
Reliable Mid-Priced 7.2 Channel Receiver Fan of Denon but I'm well up the line from $599.
solid core VS stranded for inside speaker cabinet @jasonbourne52 Indeed you can't always hear slightly better equipment. But as we go about putting together our system, consistently making the best choice, often guided by physics, sometimes by experience, the 30 to 50 choices we make will add up...
Recommendations for good sounding streamer hardwire any streamer.
Recommendations for good sounding streamer Those are good inexpensive choices. One that I like a bit better in this pricerange and it is incredibly well priced, you can get it for $300 if you look around, is the US Bridge Allo signature with Shanti power supply.
Vacuum Tube Break-in It it’s on youtube, it must be factual. you have posted a few opinions. Beware of opinions. And especially be aware of opinions from people who have something to gain from them.
solid core VS stranded for inside speaker cabinet Here's my opinions and i don't have physics to back it up (like I usually do). Stranded wire was developed for applications where you need flexibility, cords are the best example. Solid wire is still used in a lot of applications. Most high en...
Zavfino OCC SILVER DART 1.5 power cable @jerryg123 You aren't the OP but I'm glad to see a Jerry that has plenty of money for such things. And I really have no problem with that. I certainly would expect this to be a high quality cable. Many speakers have a $5000 or much more set o...
Zavfino OCC SILVER DART 1.5 power cable Big believer in high quality 10 awg power cords. That will run you about $100. Beyond that, it’s marketing, visual aesthetics, and sometimes snake oil. Cue the "your system just isn’t good enough" argument. Jerry
Flat Screen Television behind speakers Kill is too strong a word but it causes reflections. I have a grand plan to put curtains over mine this winter. Jerry
Ditching Class A Amps due to Heat - Sort of a Poll I don't have air conditioning. I had to abandon (at least in the summer time) my 400W class a amp for a 180W class A amp. (I'm talking watts of heat, nothing to di with watts per channel which is close to single digits). Jerry
Streamer matching to system I use Innuos and Roon playing Qobuz. I will say it isn't very convenient to switch back and forth between roon and stored music. You have to stop the music and basicly disable roon. I think it is much more convenient using the Innuos control ...
Uptone EtherRegen I have one of these now and am very happy with it. I have to say that the ASR negative review was key in my decision to buy it. A negative review from ASR is proving to be a very positive indicator. Jerry
Why is it necessary to have gear on the same phase from electrical panel? @jea48 are you suggesting that the common neutral allows noise from one leg to affect the other leg? I considered that and rejected it thinking the large and lightly loaded neutral would kill the noice. Now I'm questioning that conclusion. Jerry
Vacuum Tube Break-in I think burn-in is greatly exaggerated, especially in passive, not electronic equipment. But tubes get hot and metals change when they glow. I do believe tube burnin is significant...it isn't always positive. I put in a set of Russian tubes l... |
