Nude Turntable Project Jelco arms resemble vintage equipment. The SA-750 comes in a 12" version that would overcome the spindle-to-pivot issue. I'm currently playing with a SA-750D (9" version) that sounds pretty good with a Lyra Clavis Da Capo.
Best phono amplification for my setup ? My personal preference is for Herron electronics. There is a very good line stage with a phono input option. I have not heard it myself but it's supposed to be quite good. I've used Herron equipment for a long time with a VPI HW-19 MK3, FT-3 and a...
Nude Turntable Project At least you have the wherewithall to understand what you need and how to get it. Go for it, it's a great project!I'm watching with interest and have similar thoughts about trying a nude direct drive table set-up.
Best phono stage amp for rega P5? If it works good for you, then that's all that counts.
Best phono stage amp for rega P5? Herron VTPH-2.
How important is Cartridge Overhang? Need help It sounds like the arm was positioned using effective length from spindle to pivot instead of spindle-to-pivot length (eff. length minus overhang).
Need some help with setting up a Lyro Delos Change the Project II SE setting to MC, keep it plugged into the AUX input and start with the volume turned down on your pre-amp. Work it up to a normal listening level. That should get you close.
Need some help with setting up a Lyro Delos What kind of transformer? Are there taps that allow for lower gain? What kind of pre-amp? Try running the Project II SE into the AUX pre-amp inputs. Use the MM settings on the Project II before you try the MC. When you get around to trying the MC ...
VPI TNT Super Platter Isn't that the same platter as the HW-19 Mk4 upgrade? IIRC, that upgrade is still available.
Which tonearm? Just use your existing one as a template.
Which tonearm? Ditto the Jelco. I've been playing around with a 750D for a little while and it performs quite well. Just to provide an additional option, the Micro Seiki MA-505 seems quite good also, maybe a step up from the Jelco. The MS arm would require a dif...
Cartridge for Jelco SA750D Arm effective mass of 18gr would seem a little high for either cart. I've tried an OC9ML and Clavis Da Capo, both low compliance mc carts, on the 750D with good results.
best cartridge under $500 Have you considered any of the Soundsmith cartridges?
Immedia RPM 2 vs Clear Audio Emotion cmb I think when Allen Perkins designed and voiced the RPM table and arm, he probably used Lyra carts (he was / is the Lyra distributor). They work particularly well on that table / arm combo. One point of caution. Make sure the platter is lifted slig...
Second break-in for Clavis De Capo? It's coming in after about 10 hours. Looks like it might be a "low rider" Lyra. Body barely clears the record surface with 1.7g VTF. |
