STP distance. Is it critical ? Nandric, That's a good point regarding the SME V. It would be nice to get some insight on the geometry model from the SME designer(s). Bill
STP distance. Is it critical ? Hi Raul,I think the point you were trying to make earlier that a designer didn't need to consider the spindle-to-pivot distance was what caught my eye. If you intended to mean otherwise, then we are in agreement. All pivoted arms have some degree ...
STP distance. Is it critical ? Raul, I'm not sure we're in complete agreement on all points. I do agree that respecting the designer's geometry will result in the tracking they had in mind when creating a given arm. Most of the time, this is the geometry that will yield the low...
Albert Porters after market panzerholz plinths If it's the Micro Seiki CU-180, it weights 1.8kg / ~4 pounds.
STP distance. Is it critical ? I think this is how it works....Consider the arc of the stylus as it swings across the record surface. The proper set-up establishes two null points where the cantilever is on exact tangent to the groove, the inner and outer grooves have a small o...
Albert Porters after market panzerholz plinths Google is your friend.BKB Industrial in Ontario carries it. Couldn't find any sources in the states.
Albert Porters after market panzerholz plinths I have really serious doubts that panzerholz was chosen for its cost effectiveness!
STP distance. Is it critical ? This might help:The link did not come through correctly. Here's another attempt:http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vinyl/messages/77287.html
STP distance. Is it critical ? This might help:http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vinyl/messages/77287.htmlYou can see in numbers what difference there is. I think the effective length of the arm will change if it is mounted somewhere other than its designed location. I might be ...
AR XA + SME 3009 I disassembled an AR XA, cut the arm off the sub-chassis, added a wood extension and Grace 707. Was a very good improvement. That has to be 30 years ago. IIRC, the cart was a Shure V15-IV. Not a bad set-up.As for using an arm as heavy as the 3009 ...
Why do old tubes sound better than current tubes? In this context, bongs suck. (Sorry about yet another bad vacuum joke.)
Why do old tubes sound better than current tubes? Vacuum tubes require, as should be obvious in their name, vacuum. Over the years, vacuum tube manufacturers and suppliers have turned to lower quality vacuum to cut costs. The high-quality vacuum supply is harder and more expensive to acquire. As ...
Three wheel drive for the hw19 Have you tried a squash ball suspension? Double yellow or orange dot balls might work as well as bike tires with the hassle of the pump.
Ortofon 2M Black How does the AT150MLX compare to the OC9? I have always considered the OC9ML as being a real under $1000 stand-our cartridge without [m]any peers in its price range.
Sota/Koetsu Vermillion---what arm? Have you considered a Micro Seiki MA-505? IIRC, it has the same spindle to pivot distance (222mm) but might take a slightly bigger armboard hole (28mm). |
